I don't know which is a greater surprise to me. Salley the new ABA commissioner or the fact that the ABA includes over 50 teams. Wow! I thought they had like 10-15 teams. How do they work that?

Good question. I thought the ABA went away in '76.

Who plays for all these teams?

here's one squad, owned collectively but started by alexander wolff, the si writer whose article on salley began this thread.

"we're gonna be the bump in their road" -- gotta love that.

Surely the best all time name for a sports team. Gotta love Frost Heaves.

I checked and there is even a team in Knoxville, unfortunately named the Noise.

I can imagine all the slogans that would produce...

    Bring tha Noise!
    Lets make some Noise!
    We want some Noise!
    Who made that Noise!
    I misspelt Nose!

    I guess that's better than:

    Come on everybody...

    LEAVE!!!

I'm sure the media folks make plenty of use of those "cold shooting" spells.

When I saw this thread title I let out an "Oh no".

I thought he was being accused of sexual assault.

    I'm glad I was wrong.

I just knew it must be something bad... I'm glad it doesn't have anything to do with the Knicks.

Off the top of my head, was this the league good ol' Roy Tarpley was playing for up in Muskegon, or somewhere on the west side of the state? I remember seeing a feature article on him in the paper. He looked pretty good.
