No doubt. Not saying I want AI here (although I'm not entirely opposed), but I expected at least a rumor. And now for some daydreaming...Just imagine it: winning 'ships with both LB and AI. That'd be weird. AI playing with Rasheed is certainly intriguing. Nothing Goin' to Work about it, but it could be great theater and sometimes beautiful basketball.
Couldn't we have signed Delk for the BAE? He said he wanted to come back. Well at least we'll have a tradeable contract next year.
I think Murray may have more of an upside if he ends up fitting the type of mold Joe tries (key word:tries) to go after- player waiting to find the right fit with the right team and have a breakout year. Honestly, if Murray would just knuckle down on defense a little more,I feel his game could be similar to Bobby Jacksons during the "Bench Mob" heydays.
Maybe I was a little harsh about the Flip signing. I'm looking at this petition by Seattle fans to get rid of Flip and there aren't that many folks that signed it. http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/tradeflip
@ Bills - Nope, that's pretty much all of the Sonics fans... :P @ Mercury - We didn't have to use the BAE to sign Delk. He qualified for the Non-Bird Exception. BAE and MLE only are for "other FAs" unless the MLE is used to defend a second round restricted FA. That's to the best of my knowledge.
I think it's about time we welcome Flip into the fold. I really don't see what all the fuss is about. Just like the Delk signing, Flip was the bestest player we could have gotten for the leastest contract. That spells V-A-L-U-E.
WTF happen?? I take two days off from Piston nation, only to comeback find that we signed a shorter version of Mo Evans. What happen to the needed pg or defensive stopper or slasher??? Now we got two unnecssary Flips on the team Who's next, the rapper Lil Flip or the late great Flip Wilson???? As many of you said we can only hope that Delfino or our rookie or second year guards don't get stuck on the bench waiting for a shot as Murray takes up the extra minutes. Maybe Joe surprises everyone with a Nazr-Murray trade to somebody for key player that will put us over the top.....OK I can dream can't I?? Rght now with only a couple of dollars left in the wallet, Joe took what he could get. The question is, why didn't he Cavs resign him and how come he couldn't more that 2mill from any other team?
Yeah I saw him a lot in Seattle and even had him on my fantasy team last year for a short stint when he was with Cavs. I just question why he was available for so cheap a price. Heck if he reverts back to the player I saw in 2004-05, he may well be the Pistons best bargain in years price wise. As long as he is not afraid to shoot and can be relied on when the rest of the teams jumpers aren't fallin he is a welcomed addition..
He was looking for a deal starting at $5 million per season. There were no takers. I don't think his post-season helped his stock any.
You kind of Have to play talent. Players aren't like fruit you leave on the counter until they get ripe. Of course flip is a more experienced player. But the dude was a mid 50's pick that took advantage of an opportunity. He went from 1.7 ppg to 20 ppg. If you left him as a 3rd guard you'd never know what he could have done. You NEED to give acker SOME opportunity to grow as a player before you cut bait.
I aant Acker and Flip to be played. Come playoff time we have Lindsey rested up and we play him with Flip or Alex.
Regarding Flip Murray's Nickname ...lets Call Him Ronaldo Like The Big Soccar Guys. The Nba Needs At Least One Ronaldo Cuz The Soccer League Has Several!
