Where all of this info is coming from, I wonder? Because if all of that that is true, Joe is way late with Flip. Unless he wanted to give Curry a year of the apprenticeship, I dunno.

It's strange that none of it has been reported before. I mean a player pulling aside a reporter begging for an old coach seems like something that is news worthy.

"scared of Joe" is the only theory I can find much sense in when it comes down to that.

What a mess. If that article is true then no wonder the team has been falling apart when the chips are down. I hope Dumars makes some moves because I don't want to follow a team like that. Bunch of cry babies.

If Cola had lasted more then 2 years...... IF Brown had last longer then 2 years.... Flip probably would have been gone after last year, as it was there is an undertone in reporting this story that detroit "flips" coaches to often, now after Joe's interview its being protrayed abit better.

What really ticks me off about the reporting is how everybody is saying its all detroits fault that larry isn't here..... did the rest of the country not watch him and his antics of 2005? He may have been fired, but he did everything in his power to force the firing.... winning in 2004 was maybe the worst thing for both the players and the coach.

Although in the case of Avery, he hadn't paid any more dues when he took over Dallas than Curry has with the Pistons.

Laimbeer is the answer. He has experience; is a Champion as a coach; just not in the NBA.

Try not to "insult" Joe D with insinuations such as those. :stirthepot:

Any idea why that would be an insult? Still trying to figure it out.

WDFN said that would be an insulting question for Joe when asked on the radio yesterday.

I know, but my question is why? What makes that an insult?

    Firing surprised Saunders

this just confirms that flip shouldn't be back. he is oblivious - someone with no self-awareness.

your right he just doesn't get it.... it wasn't 10 days.... it was a 3 year run of those 10 days.....

was he that clueless that he didn't realize the team wasn't his? that they didn't respond to him?

I understand that alot of forum members thought it was a bad hire to start with and after year one really knew it.... but how can he not understand it after 3 years of failure?

He says nobody could have done a better job than him?

He is blaming it all on a little slump by a couple of players?

If he knew those were the expectations, he shouldn't be surprised he got canned after 3 straight years of the exact same result. Not just that we lost, but losing in the same weak fashion each time. He wasn't responsible for the players playing poorly, sure, but the least he could do is not try to sound like a victim who had no part in the team's failings. Seriously dude, get a clue.

And there are writers that are actully blaiming Pistons, including Joe and Sheed for making Flip an escapegoat.

I think Flip is certainly a viable escapegoat. It all falls back on the coach and in this case probably Rasheed too.

and saying joe runs off coaches.... gee larry brown is avaible.... sorry cola that is an upgrade... and it got us the ship.

For the 1000th time how did Joe run Brown off? larry was all but begging for newyork's headcoaching job while coaching us.... larry is atleast 75 percent responisble for larry leaving.

As for flip.... he was given the word... play the kids and did he? as little as possible... he isn't going to win a championship anytime soon. His interview upon his firing tells us even more how he just doesn't have it.
