If Curry is the influence over the defense then you can give Flip credit for taking his advise. Ultimatly one can credit Flip. He saw a need to improve the defense and did not know how to do it alone so he sought help.
And you actually think that when Flip realized he needed help that it was HE who sought out Curry??
At least you're predictable.
My understand is that Curry was seeking out Flip telling him that his team's defense sucks. But maybe I got the whole story wrong. I'll have to do some more research.
There is a huge rumor around about a subversion interview with Flip, released by an obscure Internet (at one time deeply underground) basketball blog, that alluded to this same factor. Please, at least quote from it.
I thought you guys were hinting that Dumars picked Curry. As far as I know head coaches do pick their own assistants or at least have final say on who they are. So I have to assume that Flip at least approved Curry even if it was not his idea. At any rate. Picking good assistants that compliment your coaching style and fill needs is a good thing.
Indeed I was..... Joe: Hey Flip, meet your new assistant coach, Mike, say Hi Mike Mike: Hi Flip: Huh??? (twitch)
This is from an old Detroit News article that is no longer available, hence no link.
I'm going to give all the credit to the Coach. Flip Murray is doing a great job. Joe convinced me of that by keeping him around and having an offseason chat with him. He's coaching better than we all thought he would.
Hey, that wasn't my post...I just asked a question.
How bout the photo of Nellie in that article? Caption that!
Ref....feeling a bit faint..... "Hey coach! Don't look at me with disdain! Especially since you're exposing da stain!!!!!!!!! (check coach's armpit)
Man, you need to start using deodorant.
Dazed and Confused.
Uh coach, is that your clipboard me or are you just happy to see me??
Nellie: Would you please take these handcuffs off me? Official: No way, you drunk.
