Unfortunately, it's the wrong Ford - the one with no power or say to make it a reality. Still, it's an encouraging sign. When the time comes that Sr. no longer runs the show, Millen will be as good as gone. However, with our luck, it won't be for another 20 years. Ford Jr. says Lions' Millen should leave team - Detroit Lions: News, Blogs, Photos, Audio, Schedule & Stats - MLive.com
Guys, don't get your hopes up. Just remember how "good" a manager Ford Jr was at running FoMoCo. Billy has been hurting the team longer than Millen ever has.
He has been saying Millen should go the last 2 years and nothing has happened. This is the most vocal I have seen him be about it, but it means nothing. The old man will do as he wants.
It's time for Ford Jr to implement a take over and retire his 83 year old father and take over ownership and then sell the franchise to Mike Ilitch. The Lions problems are not just Millen..it is WCF Sr himself. Since he purchased the team in 1964, the Lions have won only one playoff game in his history of his ownership. That's 44 years folks!!! most people on this forum are not even 44 years old! The lone playoff win was 1991, but who remembers that? Other than maybe Mike Utley, the Lion who suffered a career ending injury that year. The board of directors need to declare WCF Sr. incompetent to run a sports franchise, vote to have Millen turn over the pictures of William Clay Ford and _____________? and pay Millen $10 million and force him to resign and evacuate Ford Field and the state altogether..... And while they are it, send Marinelli and Kitna packing too.
It's gone national now: ESPN - Ford Jr. says if he was in charge of father's Lions, he'd fire Millen - NFL
Kinda like the Raider situation earlier this year where Kiffin was asked to walk away. No exit pay, nothing.
PTI and ARTH guys weighed in today on their former broadcast buddy Millen and the consensus was that at least someone with inside authority is listening to the fans and they agreed that the bum had to go
Maybe he has learned from all his mistakes and is about to turn the corner. I would give him 2 more years and see if he can rebound from this adversity. They could also try giving him financial incentives to improve sooner.
Guys, do some research on Ford Jr before you want him to take over. He's not even 50 yet and he's already been relieved of his position with Ford Motor. And in other news, he sold off a million of his own shares of the company stock. Ford Motor chairman sells 1 million shares
It isn't that I want Jr. to take over, it's that I want Jr. to take over so that Millen gets fired. Then he can sell the team to Mr. D or Ilitch.
What if the federal government swept in and took control of the Lions? That is actually an intervention that I would support. Let congress run this thing and we can vote them out if we don't see results. I'd love to see them having hearings on whether or not to draft another WR.
