So it went from a "terrible" post to a "ridiculous" thread? LOL, ...awesome dude!
I'd throw everything that I had at Paul George instead. In fact, a good portion of my team budget for THIS year would be spent on paying "tampering fines" to the NBA league offices that I accumulated by contacting Paul George and his agent each and every day during this upcoming season.
This from the guy who knows nothing about, "Cornbread, Earl and Me" or "The White Shadow" ........ HA!
Perhaps the same thing could be said about Iguodala, who is on all of your "fantasy" teams.
We passed on drafting Melo because we had Tay. If we pass on signing Melo because we have the Pizza Guy, at least we'd be consistent as an organization.
I'd rather have Paul George or Jimmy Butler than Carmelo.
No way either of those guys hits the market. I think people really under estimate how good Melo is, he's not as unselfish as Durant or dominant as LeBron.......but he's still a STUD! And while Paul George is a REALLY-REALLY good player.....he's no Carmelo, folks get excited when George shows flashes of Carmelo. Now I'll admit Carmelo will never be 1st, 2nd or 3rd team all defense (or 4th, or 5th or 6th....), but in a lineup featuring Josh Smith and Andre Drummond......he doesn't have to be.
Now we don't HAVE to focus on Carmelo, I wanted to illustrate our salary situation for next season. We're going to have at least $28M in salary cap next season if we don't make another move this year. A 5yr/$70M contract for Moose will eat up $12M in the first year, that leaves $16M to spend, if we can move JJ, that gets us up to $20M! IF we can get Carmelo, Deng or even Granger....that's a coup! Give BK7 the team THIS year and let's see what happens, if he can't handle it, let's address it NEXT summer. I think we'd be wise to keep our team together and our financial flexibility.
That's more realistic.
Why Melo over LeBron? Isn't he also a free agent in 2014?
LeBron coming to Detroit and winning a few more 'ships here would be the ultimate slap on the face of Cleveland fans.
It would be. However, what is the probability of that happening? Lets ask our forum numbers guys.
Absolutely zero percent possibility. I hear that big time free agents would never sign here in Detroit. That's why we had to settle for a has been middle-of-the-pack player like Smith.
At least that's what some of the "experts" would make one believe.
Neither Melo or Lebron is coming to detroit. Melo likes the spotlight. Lebron likes winning teams. We have neither.
Well, yeah, especially if some don't even bother to CAPITALIZE the name of the city...
If you have watched the Pistons play over the last few years, the "D" has been greatly reduced.
But we do have the Pizza Guy.
Separate names with a comma.
