And the interim replacement is more or less right out of the video department. I think Mr Low is going to have something to cast about on that pod of his.
Isn't that the sad truth. Imagine the Blazers with a healthy Brandon Roy, Greg Oden. Could've been something special. A total reset by the Blazers.
Wallace, Williams and Howard would be a heckuva big three. An argument could be made that they'd be better than the Heat.
This is a dumb move for the Wizards. They send away a young (read:cheap) defensive center in McGee and absorb the giant contract of a 30 year old Nene.
I guess it depends on how Squirrel-like McGee really is. They could be laughing about how they unloaded him.
I just read an article talking about how Joe stood pat (i.e. didn't make a trade just for the sake of making a trade). The article mentioned that the Pistons haven't made a trade since before the 2009/2010 season. The last trade was the one where we traded Afflalo + Sharpe for a future 2nd rounder and cash. I also noticed that Denver has really loaded up on future picks. They have the following: 2012- 2nd round pick from GS (from the Melo trade) 2013- 2nd round pick from GS (from the Melo trade) 2014- 1st round pick from NYK (Melo trade) 2014- 2nd round pick from MEM (Steven Hunter trade) 2015- 2nd round pick from LAC (Samb trade!) 2016- they have the option to swap 1st round picks with NYK (Melo). So this one benefits them if they have a better record than NYK, which is a crap shoot, but is good insurance. So, 5 extra picks to be used as trade fodder or just to be utilized. The genesis of this was: DEN traded Billups, Melo, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter, and Renaldo Balkman They got back: Wilson Chandler, Gallinari, Mozgov, a 2014 1st round pick, a swap option in 2016, and Raymond Felton (who was then traded for Andre Miller, Jordan Hamilton, and two 2nd round picks). All in all, I'd say that they've been extremely successful traders. They are about to resign Wilson Chandler to a long term contract. They also just traded an injured Nene for McGee + Turiaf. We have not made a trade since Tiger Woods was attacked by Elin Nordgren. When you think about it, making a trade for the sake of making a trade might be a great strategy to increase fan interest. At least there would be some minor hope that the new guys might be our Jeremy Lins (good for 2 weeks of minor attendance boost).
http://savingtheskyhook.com/2012/03...ccess-should-serve-as-lesson-come-draft-time/ Faried is turning up roses. Rax- 1) the Pistons passed on that true star. 2) the Nuggs sold when his stock was highest- while the Pistons would have never done that.
I was pretty vocal at that time the Pistons should have taken him with our first-rounder. How good would he look next to Monroe? Glad to see him do well.
We have no valuable assets in the minds of other GM's other than Monroe and Knight. There may have been a few takers for Stuckey if he had started his current hot spell a month ago and sustained it. There may have been an interest in Tay from a playoff team needing some D......but.....how much was his new contract worth? Even JJ has not lived up to the first season hype....and Daye...well anyway no changes for the Pistons. Just have to hope that they get a diamond in the rough at the 10th -14th pick and hope that some free agent likes what Joe and Frank are cooking this summer....
McGee is making $2.4M this year and the Nuggs can make him the QO for next year, which is still going to be not much money. He's 24 years old. His best days are ahead of him. Nene is making $13M this year. He has 4 more years and $54M remaining in his contract after that. He's 29 years old. He's in his prime right now, but that contract is going to look worse than the Ben Gordon contract in two years. Nuggets traded away a boat anchor for a knucklehead. Good move.
I honestly couldn't believe that contract when it was announced. Absolute trash. It looks worse now, to be honest. In fact, I'd prefer BG on an extra million by a country mile. Tying up $70m in an average centre? Bad choice. McGee, for all of his terrible antics, isn't actually that bad, and I would go so far to say, not too far behind Nene.
I would agree with you. Per 36 Stat: McG/ Nene Pts: 15.5/ 16.4 TS%: .539/ .554 Reb: 11.6/ 9.1 Ast: 0.8/ 2.7 Stl: 0.8/ 1.6 Blk: 3.2/ 1.1 PER: 19.7/ 16.8 Very different players. McGee is a blocking machine while Nene is better rounded with the passing and steals. They score at pretty much the same rate and at a similar percentage though. I'd actually take McGee on paper at the same salary level. Yeah, he seems like he might have the moron gene, but maybe he he just needs to move someplace where he doesn't have any friends.
Seems like both Gerald Wallace and Marcus Camby gets traded every year. But they always put up good numbers.
Gerald Wallace - Hard working, fit in guy. I'd take him in a heartbeat if he wasn't on the wrong side of 30 and totally reliant on explosiveness. Camby - Douche canoe. No surprises here - GM's risk it then get sick of him. Still shaking from the Bogut trade. GSW just got significantly better when he is in the mix.
