Haywood signed by the Bobcats; too bad, he could have been a decent acquisition to play interior D next to Monroe as long as Drummond needs his time...

I'm guessing that this is NOT Mogilny congratulating Steve Nash on becoming a Laker...........

Wow........Houston really went out on a LIN to sign their new starting point guard.
Contract will give Jeremy 14 million in his 3rd season. Including luxury tax..........that's a 30 million payment by the Rockets... for Lin that 3rd year........:cold:

Scola was a gift - they weren't expecting that. Team doesn't look too bad considering they lost Nash.

    PG - Dragic
    SG - Dudley
    SF - Beasley
    PF - Scola
    C - Gortat

    Bench rotation
    PG - Marshall
    SG - Childress (way overpaid)
    F - Morris/Warrick
    PF - Frye
    C - Lopez

    Unknowns: Hill/Redd/Brown...

Too bad they missed out on Eric Gordon. But they also have 10 draft picks over the next 3 years.

    Didn't they amnesty Childress?

Yea, they had to amnesty Childress to free up cash for Scola.

An idea how much Phoenix's bid was for Scola?
IMO, he's a good deal even at his full contract amount ($7 million per year - 3 years)

Unsure how much they paid for Scola, but IIRC he had 3 years $30M left on his contract with $21M guaranteed. Amnesty rules require the minimum bid to be equal to the unguaranteed portion of the contract, so the minimum bid for Scola would've been $9M over 3 years, which comes out to $3M a year.

Elton Brand's amnesty is even more ridiculous. The Mavs are going to be paying him about$1.6M per year or something like that.

One team's trash is another teams treasure.
Both Brand and Scola are great signings for Dallas & PHX.

I bet all 29 teams would be bidding if the Pistons amnesty Villenueva. In fact, I bet some teams would bid more than the minimum necessary and Gores would get a rebate check.

Mayo to Dallas; decent signing, along with Brand, Collison and Kaman, that gives Dallas a nice team. Not a contender of course, but they'll make the playoffs. They really made the best of the situation they were in. Would love to have a GM like that in Detroit.

I have not been keeping up with current events lately other than hearing about Lin and the Lakers trying to steal Howard....has Joe done anything else besides swapping Maggette for Gordon and rescuing Singler from overseas?

Are we ok with our guards in Knight, Stuckey, Bynum and the rookie English? Or have they picked up someone else?
