I'm in the middle of racing between dogsitting venues before the game starts so I can't find the link but Professor wrote the BEST article about this maddening quality of the Pistons. It made me feel so much better about this character defect of my favorite team. Maybe someone can find it and bump it up. I think it was in his original Dharma Cameleon article. It's a must read if you are like me just mystified by the Pistons/Bulls series and how it has developed.
I feel like we are going to lose tonight, but last game I was about as certain as you can be that we would win. I think we take game 7.
I picked the Pistons in 7, but after the first two beat downs, I figured I must be totally wrong. If this team has any pride, they win tonight. Because I know that Chicago has pride, I predict a close game. 88-82, Pistons.
Whew...now we can exhale. I'm proud of the way our guys stepped up in the second half. CB was big going to the basket in the second half after struggling in the first, Tay was enormous in the 4th quarter, and all three Pistons big men (Sheed, CWebb, Dice) were huge on the boards and on D in the second half. It was a true team effort to bring this one home. I had a pretty bad crisis of faith in this team after Game 5, and the terrible second quarter tonight kept me worried, but they showed great poise and teamwork in the second half.
Great win tonight! The boys really stepped it up despite some adverse *coughcrappyrefscough*conditions. Sheed was a MONSTER tonight. He was EVERYWHERE on the court. Blocking shots, fighting through screens, controlling the glass, hitting huge shots, running his mouth. Tay just manhandled Deng. Dice was all over the place, hustling like a mad man. CB really took charge of the team when the game could have gotten out of hand. Miami, here we come! Oh wait... Ok, well even if we get past the ECF, we'll have a really tough time against the Mavs....
It's especially nice taking out the Bulls because those writers from Chi town were getting to darned cocky for my liking.
Can somebody please tell me why we can`t play with such urgency and focus all the time!! You could feel the hustle coming through your TV after each missed shot came off the rim. Sheed was perhaps the most active on defense since the post-Ben era. Tay used Deng early and often. Hell, even Lindsey made a few timely jumpers and provided some pressure D, however, he had nothing to do with the win.......... Hopefully, the Pistons have learned their lesson about flipping a a switch in the playoffs - maybe not, didn`t this same thing happen last year??
I can breathe easy again and have a decent night's sleep. Finally the Pistons come out with a focus and purpose. The 2 losses, though nerve racking for fans, were a cold wake up call. Five straight trips to the ECF
www. 670thescore.com is CRACKING ME UP!!!!!!!!!!!They are: - dogging Ben for not stepping up and he got the big bucks - PJ for peetering out - not having a legit pt guard - no low post scorer This is what I love about Chicago. No other city loves and hates their teams like the Home of the Projects!
I wonder if the Chicago sportswriters are going to go off on Ben for being late to the arena again. ESPN said he was 14 minutes late again...but Paxson was an hour late!
PJ only scored because he was left unguarded. The Pistons were paying attention to the Gordon, Hinrich and Deng and he was able to capitalize uncontested.
