That's why CB is so good, the biggest problem Arroyo has (along with Stevie Franchis, Marbury, and horde of other NBA point guards) is that they think their job is to dribble the ball. When actually, their job is to get the ball to the right man at the right time.

Arroyo constantly looks off people or is so busy dribbling he forgets he's a point guard and not at some dribbling exhibition.

Little early - anyone want to Pick Darko's stat-line against the Pistons on April 7? We are spotting his team a back-back against Miami the previous night and home-court. I say Darko plays 20 mins shoots 1-5 ( all jumpers ) blockes 2 shots and grabs 5 boards while commiting 4 fouls with 4 TO's.
Yes, it is a little early but I am game. I think DMC will put up his usual 12 points, 6 boards, 1 assist, 2 blocks, 2 PFs and 2 turns. He will shoot inside and outside and will shoot his usual 50+ percent. He will get his two blocks against Ben and Dyce. Sheed is too smart to try to shoot against him. . The lane will be essentially shut down when he is in the game. :fingerscr But the Pistons will win the game. . Optimistic? Sure, but you already know I am a Darko fan.
I am still waiting to see how Darko does against the +.500 teams. Nets, Maimi, Spurs, Mavs, Pacers, and, yes, the Pistons. He may be able to put up decent numbers against the bottom feeders, but lets see him against the best.
Someone like Krstic can put up decent numbers but nothing really stands out about him when he plays. Darko is apparently shutting down teams all on his own so we will see.
I want to add an item to my prediction above: 3 smiles. I think the byplay between Sheed and DMC will spark a little fun. The Pistons are a lock and I think Sheed would like to have a little fun with Darko.
I want to see how Darko plays against a strong big man like Shaq or Duncan, against fast bigs like Dirk and the Suns, against a quick, athletic front line like the Nets, and against a good defensive team like the Pacers. And, of course, against the Pistons who are all of the above.
This is just a side note- I have watched most of the Magic games for the past few weeks, and I haven't seen Darko argue a call. He doesn't even make a face or any gestures. And some of the calls have been obvious errors. It is a little strange. One game in particular, when they put him back on the bench, he went ballistic to the coaches and was reportedly barking to them about the calls, so it isn't like it's apathy. I'm sure it will wear off as he gets more comfortable, but right now he is the anti-Sheed.
darko stat line 20 pts 5 rebs (mcdyess owns the boards) 3 blocks (pistons are outside shooters) 3 assists 1 to i say 20 pts because big men with outside shots really hurt the pistons. i say 20 because darko shoots above 50% and i think he'll make effort to put more shots up against detroit than he does in general. i also say this because of the curse of the ex piston that grants ex pistons superpowers when they play against us.
Darko stat line? Depends on BHill. If Hill wants to give Darko an oppurtunity to show Detroit they made a mistake (which is what he did with Darko against the Knicks) and Sheed and Dice try to take it to Darko (big brothers welcoming the little one in to the show). Then I expect Darko to start over Battie and get: 28 min, 18 pts, 6 blocks (mostly against Sheed and Dice), 5 TOs and 4 boards (he aint getting too many boards with Ben and Dwight fighting in front of him). Side note, expect a pretty friendly greeting from the Pistons. I still get the impression that the players may have been a little disappointed in Darko, but still like the cat. And expect zero words between him and Flip.
Quick stat update for those Darko and Arroyo watchers- Arroyo +5.9 per 100 possessions/ 10.6 roland rating. That puts him 2 spots behind Chauncey at #11 in the league and 1 ahead of Shaq. 483 minutes used to calculate. Darko +8.3 per 100 possessions/ 7.2 roland rating. That puts DM at #26 between Gasol and Ilgauskus in the NBA ranking. 550 minutes used to calculate. Statistically speaking, the Magic obtained their 2 best players from Detroit. The question is, could we have gotten something more for these guys?
knowing what we've been through, yes. JD should have insisted on a top 5 pick. But by not playing Darko, JD lost value in his Darko marker.
Remember he's still only 20 years old (nearly 21). I consider it a positive sign that he's putting up "decent numbers against the bottom feeders." When he becomes a man, maybe he'll do the same against the best. Darko is no where near finished improving his game.
No, it is only with the Magic. With the Pistons, he played 139 minutes (2.9 games) all season and had a -35.4 +/- per 100 possessions.
