That is very cool. It's nice to have some players excited to be a Piston.
Scott Pollard was excited to be a Piston.
Gordon is supposedly very happy with how Joe courted him right from the start. I heard a clip of his comments from an interview on (I believe) a Chicago sports station.
Scott Pollard ever go for 48 + 18 in a game before?
....Maybe in a season. I was referring to his interview on draft night when the Pistons selected him. I don't have time to look for it but needless to say, Pollard was excited.
Blogabull.com has an interview up for anyone interested.
I can't wait for the halftime tweet along the lines of: WTF.....why are they booing me.....Joe wants me shooting 3's!?!?
Chicago trades Ben Gordon to Detroit for Marian Hossa - Full Court Press
Does anyone know when the press conference will occur?
Ben Gordon, Charlie Villanueva are promising pieces for Pistons - Ian Thomsen - SI.com
Now that I have had 24 hours to digest these signings. I too have to hope that there are a couple more pieces to add to this Piston Puzzle.?? Will the new coach be able to teach these two youngsters any defense? Are the points they are going to generate be enough to offset the points they will give up? Consensus is we will need more than these two and Chandler just to compete and get past the first round..... ...if we indeed do swap Max & Kwame for Chandler, who out there is available to make up for our possible shortfall in rebounds and defense when Tyson is resting his ailing ankle? Will we keep Rip and allow Gordon to play the "microwave role" or should Joe shop Rip or Tay for another big? Are we certain that Stuckey's junior year is the real deal and he learns how to distribute or finish at the hoop? will any of our rookies or even Sharpe get any PT or even male an impact. Finally with these moves, are the Cavs, Magic, Celtics, Hawks and Wizards still ahead of us talent wise? Oh yeah do we move past the two teams we battled 8th place for (Bulls & SIxers). Yes indeed these are things that make you go ummm
I doubt Gordon or Villenueva would have made firing MC a condition of their signing. More likely is that Joe realized that MC couldn't handle the integration of 1 new player, so adding a whole new roster would overwhelm him to an extreme degree.
While these signings are good and all, can anyone possibly think why Joe D didn't go after David Lee? He would've been the first one on my list, over Gordon even.
Not that I think Joe is infallible, but there may be a good reason why David Lee is waiting for a deal to materialize still. It doesn't even sound like there is a lot of negotiation for him. Maybe GMs know something about him that fans and pundits do not.
Some crazy rumors coming from CBS sports: more on this here: Gordon in a sign-and-trade for Iverson? - Full-Court Press
That sounds interesting. Why would Gordon agree to this now that he already has a verbal commitment? If the Pistons did it for substantial savings, it would mean that Gordon would get a smaller contract, right? That sounds a bit ruthless and not the best way to endear yourself to your big-name free agent acquisition.
If there was someway that we could get Tyrus Thomas out of this, i'd be thrilled, but i realize the money's already difficult to match.
It's practically impossible at this point, we relinquished AI's rights in order to get under the cap.
Did we have to do that before the start of free agency?
