If they play most of their games against the Trail Blazers or Rice University then the Pistons got themselves a heck of a player!

I don't care if he played against my mother's 1938 girls college team. If he shows that same nastiness and tenacity, my mother is sh-- out of luck and I :gun1:would have to root for Charlie.

I'd have to think so. I'm not in favor of signing Gordon to this contract if he's also keeping Hamilton.

Good point but Joe's been looking for a scorer off the bench forever. Call me crazy but I'm thinking he's lookin' for his Vinnie Johnson for this team. Gordon is gonna fill that roll very nicely. This team will have steady scoring throughout with Gordon being primarily matched up with the other team's back-up. We need to do something about the 5 spot bad and I'm wondering how we're gonna swing more than a body to fill that void. The top two contenders in the EC have Dwight Howard and Shaq Diesel. We have Kwame Brown.............and that's it.

Good point Zoo, if these guys aren't going to the paint, then we better hope that the big that Joe is targeting lives in there...

    well...
    well...
    well................

Remember this...when u do a deal with the Devil, he will always come to collect( see Rasheed 2004)

This all will mean NOTHING if we do NOT get a big. I dont care if its jared Collins, someone HAS to do the dirty work! Even OBerto could have been a nice back up. Tay and CV will flourish if we make ONE more deal.

BTW, I'm hoping Dyess signs with SA and Sheed goes to Houston..Imjussayin!

I sincerely hope that is not the case. Even if Ben didn't mind coming off the bench to start the game, we are still going to be stuck in the same situation with the AI-Rip saga in that who is going to CLOSE OUT games?

Ben sure needs to be finishing games, he is one of the best in the business.
Stuckey needs to be finishing games because he has skills neither Ben, Rip or Tay have with regards to running the offense. ie. getting to the hole, drive and dish, facillitator, etc. I will be severely disappointed if Joe has grand plans of sitting Stuck during crunch time.

That leaves Rip. The only way he stays on the court is if we go small ball. Which means nothing has changed, nobody will know when to shoot and drama will ensue.

    Rip's gotta go IMO.

If we keep all three; i see Rip/BG finishing games a majority of the time. Ben usually handles the ball (and turns it over) in crunch time anyway.

I didn't think about that aspect. Stuckey has also shown the ability to be clutch. And being out there with Gordon might open up the lanes.

It's tough all around. Then again if Stuckey has year anything like last, maybe it's best that he not be asked to shoulder so much responsibility. Last year i think we threw him into the fire when he wasn't ready.

Our lineup will be pretty soft but I'm still excited to see Gordon/CV in a pistons uni.

I don't dislike him as his.

ESPN is reporting that he signed for 5 years and 40 million.

Wow! I'm glad these stories didn't break while I was at work, I would have gotten NOTHING done today!

I think anyone would have had to overpay Gordon to get him. I'm glad it's back-loaded. Who knows, maybe in a few years when he gets too expensive Dumars pulls a Chauncey and pawns him off to someone for an expiring contract.

I seem to remember dba saying that Charlie was justified about 8 million, so that sounds pretty good.

So we're a few million under the cap. Seems like we can still absorb some salary for a few years if we trade Rip for someone.

Would Bill D have authorized these deals? You gotta wonder if Joe D is going to town with his newfound freedom. Somebody go check Bill D's grave to hear if he's rolling.

My main concern with these deals is that now when we say "Ben" it's not instantly clear who we mean. I miss Big Ben. :(
