Thank you, thank you, thank you. Somebody needs to 'splain it to some of these guys. Stuckey and Affalo were drafted to be our backup backcourt. FlipJr. is insurance and LH is the mentor.

J-Max and Amir will spend some time at the 3, with Dupe being insurance.

Most of these "doom and gloom" fellas have been preaching that for the past three years. 16 Farms especially. We have won a championship AND 3 EC finals since 16 arrived on the scene with his doom and gloom anti-LB message. Turned right around and preached the gospel of an "All-Star Darko" with a "Euro League J-Max." Ask him how those predictions worked out. Lee too.

Afflalo is an undersized 2, not a 3. Wishing he was a 3, doesn't make it so. I am not criticizing him, I just stating that he is a 2, and thus competing with Stuckey for PT. In High School, he played the 2, at UCLA, the 2. He's a 2.

From Arron Afflalo: NBA Draft Profile | College Basketball by Collegehoops.net

Scouting Report: A high scoring off guard with a decent outside shot.

Strengths: Good defender at the off guard spot. Has become a very consistent scorer – pretty much guaranteed to score in double digits each game. Good midrange shooter. Shoots for a very high percentage for a shooting guard. Improved his three point accuracy his junior year. Also is a very good free throw shooter.

Weaknesses: Very poor showing in the 2006 NCAA tourney showed he can be a streaky shooter. Will be a little undersized at the shooting guard spot in the NBA. Not lightning quick or a high leaper.

I agree that Hot Rod and Afflalo due not play in the same position, but only as the first option.

In each game in the SL there were times when either Walker Russell, or Jabeer ran the offense and Hot Rod played the wing.

Hot Rod as we know is a combo guard and there will be times that he and C-Bill will be on the court at the same time. An advantage of this arrangement is that C-Bill can also play the off guard, though that may not be his preference. There will be occasions when both are on the court at the same time that Hot Rod will be chosen to play the point for a number of reasons primarily because of matchups.

But generally Hot Rod will play the point.

I can see us going to a Stuckey/C Bill back court at times when teams are pressuring Chauncey with the ball, with two ball-handling pg-possible guards on the floor, Chauncey can get rid of the ball, and the offense can still stay in sync. Or Stuckey can get rid of the ball and the offense can still stay in sync...

Dude, he can DEFEND all 3 perimeter positions. Stop letting all that draft profile BS influence you. Last I checked MoPete, DesMason, MoEvans, Raja Bell and a host of other players stand around 6'5" and do just fine playing the wing. Hell Delfino did OK at 6'6", but then again there lies the problem, he's not Delfino.

I am still in mourning. Can't believe we lost Delfino, our last hope.

This loss was just so great, especially coupled with the loss of Blalock that all the rules are out the door. I will need significantly more time to recover.

I'm going to make a suggestion. When the new season begins each of us should wear a black arm band while watching the Pistons games...in order to remember Will Blaylock.

And then if the Pistons get knocked out before finals we could all say - "TOLD YOU SO!!!"

Screw the black arm-band. I'm wearing a green and white Gutrah (headscarf). That's right, Blalock's loss has left me so hopeless and disillusioned that I've decided to become a Hamas suicide bomber.

    Seriously.

You shouldn't make jokes about that subject for a number of reasons.

From your post it is clear that you don't know anything about Hamas suicide bombers. First of all very few of the suicide bombers in the Middle East belong to Hamas.

Secondly, Hamas know exactly what they are doing and why. Their interpretation of the Koran and its teachings might be inconsistent with orthodox teachings but nonetheless they are not disillusioned.

    Starting to become "not funny".

We don't mock religion or ethnicity here. We also avoid politics.

    Thanks.

An unfortunate weakness that is not correctable. It is also one of the first aspects he traditionally brings up about his forthrightness in not being afraid of pulling-the-trigger. Continuance is an easy defensive measure and portrays more than most people think.

I thought this was a good article regarding Joe's draft record, i dispute some of the projections, but there is a process:

APBRmetrics :: View topic - Ranking of GM's drafting records (LONG!!)

    [Based on Draft only]

It is a nice system, but it

    1. Doesn't account for a player's value after trading, him. because Darko is not a deep bench etc.
    2. Doesn't account for the fact that the PIstons have had one of the best records over the period so clearly their draft picks, eg Darko. Memo. JMax, AJ will not get the same opportunities with them as a dreft pick will with a lousy team.

Anyway, interesting reading and thanks for posting it.

    :hoops:
