Chauncey Billups returning to Pistons in 2-year, $5 million deal | The Detroit News Billups, the 2004 NBA Finals MVP who was traded from the Pistons in the 2008-09 season, has agreed to a two-year deal with the Pistons worth $5 million, according to sources. The second year is a team option. I really like this, even it's only for the mentor part towards Knight (and the team in general). It will be great together with Sheed, lol
This is good to see. With this signing and the return of Sheed the Pistons are bringing in mentors who can teach the young guys what being a Piston is supposed to be all about.
I'd like to think that Arnie Kander factored in BupBup's decision to rejoin the Pistons.
How you gonna deal with this Scoe ?!
I can barely contain myself, I'm telling everyone in my office the great news but nobody here gives a crap (I'm in Wizards territory and hardly anyone here even watches them, but I gotta tell somebody!!)
Very positive thread. Just how you like it Scoe.
2.5M per for a backup of C-Bill's level isn't bad at all. Especially when you factor in that he can play the role that we want BK to play. He'll be able to help set up the offense in the halfcourt and he's a guy that understands how to feed the ball into the post (not that he had someone to do that with when he was here before). He's also a great 3 point shooter as well as a guy that WANTS that last shot. I don't know how any Pistons fans can't like this move. Just stay healthy C-Bill and WELCOME HOME !!!!
Think KCP = Rip.2.+1
Welcome back, 2-chest
Team option for second year, which means he is helping out with the guard problems. Looks like Knight might be staying, at least for another year (until deadline ends). Trade coming and has to be someone that can switch between the 1-2 positions. Ellis or Henderson?
I'm very very happy about this.
Joe got some proven additions to the team. Starting with Coach Cheeks, then Rasheed Wallace, and now Chauncey Billups. Josh Smith looks to be in transition from home town punching bag to team leader. He just seems excited. I-75 brings him right up the street.
I like this just because it means the Pistons almost have to make a trade to get the roster right. I hope they don't just release/not sign Kenny E and Siva. That would be depressing.
Merged this into the existing Billups 'He's back' thread.
Puttin' the band back together
Sauce! Joe D realizes he surrounded stuckey with shooters to open the lanes for him but never surrounded the guy with an environment that would help him succeed. Billups is a good guy if you want to soak up how to be a floor general. I loved how the GTW team worked when he was on the floor and it was a different story when he was off the court. If nothing else, he becomes the best PG we got.
Yeah. And the Bulls just released Rip.......
Pretty funny how the entire Pistons roster from a few years ago are currently all discarded unrestricted FAs.
Yea, I hear Darko could use a job too..... Sorry but Rip needs to stay away from this young core... his last few years here tainted me towards him for awhile. Let time pass to heal some wounds and have him come back for a night to celebrate the 04 team.... but thats all I'm willing to let him have just now.
