You must have missed JD's press conference. Positions are a thing of the past. This is the new NBA.
Again, I look at the Chauncey signing as a coaching move. Anything that we get from him on the court will be gravy. I like Chauncey but the GTW crew was always about the Wallaces for me. ...The No Flip Flop Crew will be all about Drum, Smoove, Money, BeeKay and the Pontiff.
He's making more than Cheeks though, right?
That's the same reason people hated Michael Vick's game.
He's probably making more than Mo but a little less than Frank and Kuester are still being paid.
Great news!! He should still be able too. With Sheed as an assistant and Stuckey activly being shopped this is great news for the backcourt.
So figure another three, then, for Pope and Mitchell. If they amnesty CV, they still would have to sign another player, which still puts them over the 15-player limit.
I see the Billups signing as a classy move by Joe D. Same thing he did with Big Ben, creating an opportunity for these guys to ride into the sunset with dignity. Just like Big Ben, Billups will finish his playing days as a hero and will get standing ovations. He won't be reduced to towel boy status (see TMac in SAS).
My hope is that he helps Knight develop from coaching perspective, as I am not sure how much Chauncey has left in the tank at this point.
PistonPowered: Chauncey Billups can contribute more than just 'mentoring' to Detroit Pistons | Detroit Free Press | freep.com
I think Chauncey is going to play a fair amount as point guard, and rightfully so. He's the best point guard on the roster, and we're trying to make the playoffs. I hope that over the course of this season and beyond, he takes it on himself to mentor the young developing point guards.
I think we should be paying Cheeks more. I feel bad for the guy, honestly.
MY wife said all I did for 6 years is get on Chauncey's case! LOL...And I OWN a #1 Billups jersey. He's the one I loved to hate. It was just the point guard in me.
Which reminds me, my wife has Billups jersey. Cool. Now she can wear it again.
I think he will. He basically had a year to rest while recuperating from the achilles. If you are old like me then you know its not so much slowing down just so dang easy to get injured. He had a year to rest up all the other nagging ailments so should be good to go for a couple more years. I excpect big things.
Now we're gonna have some very expensive 13th and 14th players on our roster......
I hope that Mo sees it the same way that you do. How many teams in the league can say that they would be best served to have 1/3 of their payroll in street clothes.
Aaah, ReniChaunc aint expensive, is it ?
