The Texas Rangers scored 30 runs against the Orioles today. ESPN - Rangers' 30 runs sets AL record in rout of Orioles - MLB (This didn't really warrant its own thread, but I couldn't find a generic baseball thread to post this in at first glance. Mods, feel free to move this if there is a better place for it.)
the guy on espn this morning wasn't kidding when saying load up on rangers for todays double header.... not a bad night when both your 8 and 9 hitter have 7 rbi's
Yeah, that espn dude wasn't kidding. 30 runs in game 1 and they're up 5-3 in the 4th inning of Game 2. 35 runs and counting in one day. That's more than most teams score in an entire week!
Just short of 40 runs for the Rangers as they win the second game 9-7. Funny thing is both their 8th & 9th batters knock in 7 runs a piece in the first game. In comparison Tiger strikeout king Brandon Inge has only knocked in 8 runs in the whole month of August,
Hey Darth, are you watching the Phillies game? They just scored 10 runs in the first innings against the Reds. Wow.
Kind of. I got home from work and checked online and saw the Phillies up 4-0. One of my guys had hit a two run homer. So I turned on the fantasy Stat tracker and "saw" another guy hit a 3 bagger. I also have Cole Hamels as my ace pitcher but he's kind of sucked lately so I benched him this week. Last week I had one of my worst batting performances so it is good to see the week start off on the right foot. I always like to see the Phillies win.
They are your team right? I have a baseball question for anyone who wants to answer... Q. Can someone clarify when you can you score a run off an out? ie. I just saw someone hit it deep, the outfielder caught it and another guy ran home for a run. Do you have to wait for the guy to catch before you can leave 3rd base or whats the story?
Yes. It's called "tagging up." If a guy catches it and you left the base before he caught it then he can throw it back to the original base. If the ball beats you then you're OUT. No tag on you necessary.
Cool, so if you wait until its caught then leave the base and make it home its a run? Does that count as a stolen base? I can't see how the guy who went out would be given an RBI for going out...
It counts as a run as long as there are less than 2 outs and you beat the throw to the home plate. It doesn't count as a stolen base and the guy that goes out is given an RBI and his batting average is not affected. This is called Sacrifice Fly.
Right. I think if you hit it on the ground and they get the batter out but a run scores then it is an RBI but also counts against his batting average, right Mikhail?
Correct. Counts as a ground out. Now, here's another curve ball - if you ground into the double-play and the run scores, you don't get an RBI and it also counts against the BA.
3 day test matches? Didn't you get to see any 5 day matches when you were in NZ cos they got beaten so bad?
