Ok we're on a roll but for how long
how many games are left?....
I'll go with that...
You are a hater. i am not very superstitious, but why jinx the team??
2 games next week, but they are another back to back, however the 1st is at Miami and the second is home to the Knicks. The following week begins with a game at Charlotte and then home to the Trail Blazers. So far so good.
Then the week after that on the 7th and 8th of December are back to back at The Cubans and The Darkos.
DD is rounding into shape after over a year of inactivity. He won't be 38 until next spring. LOL. Seriously, in 2004-05 with the Pacers the year before he came to the Pistons he averaged 7 and 9 in 29 mpg. Those are almost Big Ben like numbers. Then last year as we know he sat for various reasons.
He should be well rested. LOL
DOES IT MATTER?
What's wrong with enjoying the wins?
"Then the week after that on the 7th and 8th of December are back to back at The Cubans and The Darkos."
I like that . . . . . . but then, you knew I would !!
But that will be a tough back to back. Just the overnight flight alone makes it bad.
They should win until that, though. And maybe beyond.
I'm gonna say 10 wins. Dallas game will be a tough one.
I expect to win the tough ones and drop a game to someone you overlook.
I hoping that our streak will go on for awhile. I don't know but I feel that it will end when it ends. But now it feels good to be on a 6 game winnning streak.
How long the streak lasts is very, very unimportant. What is important is preparation for the playoffs. Developing the bench, and keeping our four stars rested is what we need to do. Indeed, if Flip Saunder uses wins as an excuse for not making the needed changes, the streak flat out hurts the team. Just like last year. Last year I preached that regular season record did not help in the playoffs. Nothing has changed. Regular season record won't mean squat when the playoffs starts. The better team will win. Detroit is nowhere as good a team as they could be if the bench was fully developed. Blalock, Amir Johnson, and Maxiell have got to be given playing time.
Every game we fail to play these guys is just one game closer to failing in the playoffs. So the streak I am counting is the number of games Saunders foolishly excludes Maxiell from the rotation. Another streak I am counting is the games Flip Saunders refuses to even get Amir Johnson or Blalock in any games at all. These are the imprtant streaks. Not regular season win streaks.
Classic post lee. And a good one. I think almost everyone now understands and can appreciate the "play the bench" mentality.
These kids are very exciting and Amir Johnson in particular has unlimited potential.
AJ sure. Blalock. not yet.
Solid post Lee. I completely agree. We're focusing on the wrong streak.
To me, this has to come from Joe Dumars. He has to tell Flip that he will not be fired for finishing with 49 wins. As the boss, he should let the coach know what he will be evaluated on. Player development and Playoff success should be the top 2 criterea. Development is important, even if we lose in the post season, because it increases our chances of playoff success next year.
I like the concept of giving the coach free reign, but you really need to be more careful about picking the coach if you do that. If you end up picking a guy like Flip, then you have to nudge him the right direction sometimes.
MoPi, we own Dallas. However the next nite JD will shut off his TV or walk out of the building at half time due to the disgusting whupping the Darko gang puts on us.
That Dec 8th game will be a great game. Both the Pistons and Magic should have good records going in and this should reach playoff feelings, especially if the teams are as charged up as the forums will be.
Like some college football games, the team that has the ball last will win it
I seriously doubt the Orlandic Magii are going to end our streak.
the streak will have ended by then.
Lee I agree with most of your post.. Flip isn't going to coach us to a championship (I think most would agree), so I don't see a reason for him to limit the amount of time that Amir, JMax and CD play. However, I don't think Flip can develop all of the youth at one time. He has been playing CD and in the beginning he was playing JMAX. He should start getting JMAX a few minutes a game again. I don't remember JMAX doing anything that would cause him to get benched. As for Amir, I think 1 more year in the NBDL and then come next year they should force feed him some serious minutes..
Roscoe I also agree, Amir has unlimited potential and may one day be Sheed's perfect replacement.
