How much would it cost to trade up and get Drummond?

    Uh oh!

    Screw #9!
    TRADE DOWN JOE!
Get 2 1st rounders for the price of one and play the odds that one of these picks will turn into something special.

So far what have we learned:
...John Hensen is a lock to go to the Pistons at #9.
...Arnette Moultrie already has a handshake agreement with the Pistons.
...Tyler Zeller is the most pro-ready big man that will be available for Detroit.
...Andre Drummond just might slip to the 9th spot. He's either a steal or the biggest bust in the draft.
...Perry Jones has the biggest upside out of anyone that is expected to be available (and the biggest downside).
...Meyers Leonard is a physical specimen and is just what the Pistons need!
...Jared Sullinger is the best scoreing big in the draft.

There is absolutely no consensus that any of these guys is the clear-cut best prospect. All of them have their positive and negative attributes. I want Joe to investigate any and all possibilities of trading down in the first round to secure an additional pick. It's possible that by giving another team "the pick of the litter" of the guys that I mentioned (as well as others), the Pistons could end up with TWICE the odds of seeing their first round selection turn out to be an all-star who contributes in Detroit for years to come. Better yet, maybe we get TWO guys that contribute as good or better than #9.

If there isn't a deal to be done, ok.
But at least check into it.

I can't believe Joe hasn't drafted Anthony Davis yet. He's still available!!!

So, Dre's going to make the all-star team this year, right?

Total Win Shares 2013-14 Season to date (through 12/9/13)
    1.LeBron James-MIA4.4
    2.Paul George-IND4.3
    3.Kevin Durant-OKC4.3
    4.Chris Paul-LAC4.0
    5.Kevin Love-MIN3.3
    6.Andre Drummond-DET3.1
    7.James Harden-HOU3.0
    8.Damian Lillard-POR3.0
    9.Stephen Curry-GSW3.0
    10.Dirk Nowitzki-DAL2.9
    11.Anthony Davis-NOP2.8
    12.Wesley Matthews-POR2.8
    13.LaMarcus Aldridge-POR2.7
    14.Dwight Howard-HOU2.7
    15.Klay Thompson-GSW2.6
    16.Kevin Martin-MIN2.6
    17.Arron Afflalo-ORL2.5
    18.Chandler Parsons-HOU2.5
    19.Blake Griffin-LAC2.5
    20.Ty Lawson-DEN2.5

He's top 20 in both offensive and defensive win shares, which is rare company. The only other 2 are Kevin Durant and Paul George. Not even Lebron or Chris Paul make the list.

He's 14th in the league in steal percentage (top big man).

#1 in offensive rebound percentage, #4 in defensive rebounding percentage, and #1 in total rebound percentage. He's the best rebounder in the league, especially considering he's sharing rebounds with Smith and Drummond, who are both way above average.

#4 in eFG (#1 in FG%), despite only shooting 2 pointers (behind Korver, Mathews, and Lebron, all 3-point shooters).

#10 in PER behind only studs

Tied for 17th in blocks, which is a disappointment for him.

#4 in the league in double doubles behind Love, Paul, and Griffin.

#1 in WS/minute for his career from the 2012 NBA draft class, barely ahead of the #1 pick, Anthony Davis.

Besides having the NBA center with the most potential, it would seem that we also have the NBA's best center... at the age of 20. We got the #2 pick gifted to us by a bunch of scared GMs that doubted his passion and work ethic. Hard to believe now, but the reason that I posted to this thread is because it is interesting to read the comments and get a feel for what a gamble it felt like at the time. Drafting bigs is a crapshoot. We used our #2 pick to get a guy that should have gone 20th and we used our #9 pick to get a guy that should have gone 2nd. 18 year old basketball players probably aren't the easiest guys to assess personality-wise.

LeBron James likely to start at center for Eastern Conference All-Stars | ProBasketballTalk

Yep based on the stats and overall play, Dre should be in the all star game.....I have already voted for him 3 times.

The way the vote is going and the way the ballot is setup, it appears that Lebron will be the starting center. I have voted for Dre, Lebron and Paul George each time as the starting frontcourt, but the NY vote alone will probably put Melo in there as a starter.

In any case, the coaches should put Dre in there over Hibbert for the true center....but if the Pacers are still leading the conference, then both are in.

Hibbert is really good too. Imo, they should be the 2 centers from the east. Melo is like yao ming. He could be in a coma and get voted it.

Judging from the Indy games I've seen this year Hibbert looks alot better than Dre. He's been awesome each time.

Looks like Nemo compared Drummond to Darko....

I miss how Blue used to create a nearly duplicate content of another thread and then start making consecutive multiple posts in his own thread when no one else replied.

Won't Drummond get tired playing in the All Star game? Just the Rookie/Sophomore game will probably tucker him out.

Drummond's upside is double Derrick Favors right now. On a good night, Andre is a 20/20 guy. On a good night, Favors is a 13/13 guy.
