I love C.J. McCollum at #7 or #8 in the draft. There's gonna be enough cap-space to sign two near-max FA's this off-season, and then some backups (assuming we amnesty Villanueva and buy-out Stuckey, as we should).

In terms of who those two FA's are going to be, there are a lot of options. A. Iguodala, O. Mayo, T. Evans, JR Smith, Ke. Martin, M. Ellis, B. Jennings, C. Brewer, etc.

I think #1 for me would be Iguodala. He's a little old at 29, and he's not an outside shooter - something we need, but he's a great slasher, a great passer, and one of the league's pre-eminent defenders. I think #2 for me would be Mayo. He's the right age at 25, a great shooter, and an at least average perimeter defender. There are, of course, others above that intrigue me as well.

    C: A. Drummond(19), V. Kravtsov(25)
    PF: G. Monroe(22), J. Jerebko(26)
    SF: A. Iguodala(29), K. Middleton(21)
    SG: O. Mayo(25), K. Singler(24), K. English(24)
    PG: C. McCollum(21), B. Knight(21)

The East is weak outside of Miami. That, or something similar, could be an ECF team with a competent coach.

I think you should create a thread talking about what the Pistons should do this offseason.

I think we need a thread to talk about all of the threads that address what the Pistons should do in the offseason.

This thread might've seemed somewhat facetious, but think about it..

IF we draft that McCollum kid, who I think could be a great, Lillard-like point-guard/combo-guard..

IF we sign two great FA wings, and there are going to be plenty to pick from..

IF we bring in a real-deal, hard-nosed, experienced and talented coach (please be Jerry Sloan)..

I really see no reason at all why this couldn't be the second best team in the East. The Pacers? The Bulls? The Knicks? The Nets? The Hawks. The - lol - Celtics. We'd be right there. For sure.

    C: Drummond, *?Maxiel?*, Kravtsov
    PF: Monroe, Jerebko
    SF: *?FA?*, Middleton
    SG: *?FA?*, Singler
    PG: McCollum, Knight, *?Bynum?*

Pacers, Bulls, Knicks and the Nets are all pretty good. I'd be delighted if we end up 6th next year while flirting with home court advantage throughout the year.

Kmart is a defensive liability and he's also injury prone. On top of that, we must pay him big time to get him out of OKC, because that's where he wants play. I wouldn't mind Iggy, as he's one of the best perimeter defenders (if not THE best) in the league right now. He can also handle the ball like a point guard, and he's deadly in transition. He'll most likely follow the money, so I think we can have him if we really want him. Thought, the last part can be said about a lot of this years free agents.

I'm just glad the Pistons have their cap space opened up the year before all the big names hit the market again. That worked out well last time.

K-Mart's the best pure shooter of the bunch though, isn't he? We could give him easy assignments with Iggy on the wing too. And, I don't recall him ever missing an enormous amount of time with an injury.

He have missed more than 30 regular season games in 6 seasons. Thought, I believe he was benched a lot the last time he was playing for the Rockets.

Decided to look it up. I was wrong on my last statement, but he have still missed a lot of games. He have had problems with his wrists, ankles and shoulder in the past.

Games he have played each of his 9 seasons in the league:
    04: 45
    05: 72
    06: 80
    07: 61
    08: 51
    09: 46
    10: 80
    11: 40
    12 : 77

He only played in 552 of the 738 possible regular season games he could've played. That means he have missed more than 1/4 of all Regular season games his teams have played in his career. (assuming there was 82 games in each of his 9 seasons)

Why you keep thinking, imagining, that Iguodala will be in a Pistons jersey next year??? Do you know something we don't?

Iggy's gonna opt out. He doesn't deserve it, but it is what it is - max salary, max years, Detroit Pistons, we get him. He's a great combo with Ke. Martin, in that.. 1) He might be the best perimeter defender in the game next to LeBron and can handle the tougher assignment; 2) He's a great slasher and passer, and on the fast-break too.. which leads to a lot of nice kick-outs to a sniper like KeMart.

    I LOVE it.

    C: Drummond, *FA/Maxiel, Kravtsov
    PF: Monroe, Jerebko
    SF: Iguodala, Middleton
    SG: Martin, Singler
    PG: McCollum, Knight, *FA/Bynum

    HC: Sloan

Turn those two 2nd rounders into Giannis and I'd, I'd just die.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Iguodala, max salary & max years. I'd take a 4 year punt on him at 12m/yr. But definitely not at 18+. The guy just isn't worth that kind of money, it would be a CV/BG all over again. And Kevin Martin? What makes you think we would want an injury prone, past his prime, ok shooter at the two who can't play defense. We can get that for $5 in Kyle Korver. Kev Martin will cost twice that.

And then we take our 7th (circa) pick and reach down to #15 to get McCollum. What?

The only thing you have suggested which isn't totally insane is 2nd rounders to Giannis. But the real issue is, will he ever be able to play in the NBA given his visa complications?
