Illitch isn't dumb and I'll bet he doesn't look at short term mini-issues as the be-all-and-end-all in terms of his decisionmaking. He already knows the team isn't a contender and is rebuilding. I doubt that the discontent or hickups we've been reading about with the guys on the team and the coach are slowing him down at all.

I just hope that the Pistons can emerge with an even older buyer than Illitch from all this.

Good call, Brap. I honestly don't think a couple of players bickering affects the sale price of a several-hundred million dollar franchise.

What is causing the delay then?

It's a 300 to 475 million deal. The parties probably think it's worthwile to be careful and to negotiate hard given the enormous numbers they're dealing with.

He's just probably sensing weakness and squeezing every last penny out of the widow.

I'm rooting for Gores now. Maybe due to Ernie's subliminal campaign.

I just want someone who's smart enough to leave Joe alone, supports spending for key guys Joe wants when he want them, and continues to run a classy organization that players feel good about joining.

Maybe Illitch is trying to lowball. I have no idea. :nerd2:

Welcome to the club! I like Illitch because of the thought of a Pistons TV network. Everything else points to the People's Champion Tom Gores.

I want an owner who isn't 1000 years old and has to take a nap at halftime. Gores seems like more of an NBA fan also and more likely to spend big if the team were in contention again. That is not a shot at Illitch, it is just an unfounded perception I have.

I do somewhat worry (as a selfish fan) that Illitch would have eggs in too many baskets to focus financially on the Pistons. I like the idea of Gores for this reason. He's local, doesn't seem to have other ownership interests getting in the way, and he would rock Jeans Friday at the office.

Our ranks are swelling! Bill Laimbeer is probably gathering a group of people and heading over to Little Ceasar's for dinner.

Every day will be Jeans Friday under Gores.......

    Count me in.
I'm currently recovering from an outpatient surgery that I had where the doctor clipped a tendon on the left side of my neck. My head is now in a constant tilt to the right at a precise angle of 37 degrees.

I'm heading to the Colorado Mills Mall later today to stock up on 5-button polos.

    IN TOM WE TRUST!

Nice. I've been tilting my head in any photo I have to take recently.

    Wow.
The dust-ups between coach Q and all of these malcontent players has cost Karen Davidson $100 million. If this keeps going the way it is, we might be able to pull together some cash and buy this mess.

Pistons sale still in the air

LOL. I think the recent bad weather has affected the franchise value, as well.

I've heard Illitch is only buying if pistonsforum.com has a 10% uptick in quality posts.

Maybe we need to start a "Quality Posts" thread.
