how scared is LeBron that we got mitchell?
The thing that has me most 'THILLED" is the prospect of coach Sheed! THAT would be outstanding!
Sheed was someone that underachieved. He played hard when he felt like and quit when the going got tough. How does this make him a good coach? What qualities does he have that will motivate players? Sure, he is smart and funny, but I'm not seeing how he would be a good coach.
Dude was one of the smartest players (B-ball IQ) in the association. He'll be a good coach. ...He just needs to work on his customer service.
I agree that he could provide some much-needed swagger. After that, I'm not so sure. We will need some assistants to help with X's and O's.
I don't know if his coaching will be any good but his post defense was top notch.
Bill takes a wet blanket with him wherever he goes...... Kinda like me sometimes.
I can't wait for 357s minutes allotment for this new team.
Sheed had one of the highest basketball IQs in the NBA. His teammates loved him and he took the youngsters under his wing and taught them the game. When the Pistons traded for him in 2004 they were 34-23, and went 19-4 the rest of the way. Remember during the Palace brawl he was the first guy into the stands to try and calm things down; when teammates had issues and he didn't, he was that voice on their shoulders to cool it. He's always been a really emotional guy, but mostly only when he was on the court or when the ref was making bad calls that personally affected him. He's a perfect assistant coach, because he's extremely knowledgeable, always thinking about the game, a mentor to the young bigs, and someone that learned the hard way what having a team with bad chemistry was like. If he joins the team, he'd arguably be their most important acquisition and I'm not exaggerating.
I sat pretty close at some Pistons games during the Goin' to Work days and may absolute favorite thing was to just sit back and listen to Sheed during these games. Not only was he hillarious. He was like a middle linebacker on the defensive end, always barking out instructions, switches and calling defensive sets. Sheed knows Xs & Os better than most.

Loving the idea of Coach Sheed. Tony Mitchell is NOT a small forward, but he can defend the bigger SF's in the league when teams go small. Mitchell will allow us to stay BIG when teams go small.
I think Mitchell can be a poor mans Josh Smith
It seems like you forgot about the time Sheed grabbed the dry erase board to go over some plays with Kwame Brown in LA during the Mike Curry run. (This should have probably been a sign to cut bait with MC.) Look at Herrrrrrrrman and that dude in the background paying close attention.
I'm very excited about the upcoming season. I hope we can get a good player in FA, from Joe's press conference it looks like he's looking to sign wing players who can shoot. OJ Mayo or Iguodala, perhaps? Also, please hire Big Ben Wallace to replace Roy Rogers as a big man coach!
I'm excited! I'm starting to look like this guy waiting to hear if Sheed gets hired.
This ain't no thing but a chicken wing on a string at Burger King in the Spring in Lansing... Heck, I (me) used to grab a dry-erase board and try and show Kwame what was up. BTW: I'm pretty sure that's (a conscious) Walter Sharp peering over Sheed's shoulder. ...Dude's trying like hell to stay awake isn't he?
Like Laimbeer would have, Sheed brings some personality and confidence to the team. There are so many assistant coaching spots, that there's room for technicians along side of him. Zero chance of a mutiny with a guy like this on the staff. Now Cheeks can play the bad cop all he needs.
I believe this may be the game where Rip officially became known as The Greiving Rip Hamilton also.
Some memories are better off just left in the past...
