    Final roster:
    Stuck/ Bynum
    Gordon/ Summers
    Taye/ Daye/ Washington
    Villain/ Swede/ Plaisted
    Bosh/ Kwame

    That's purrrfect.

It explains why the seemingly illogical moves were made that exchanged young talent for small tidbits of cap space. It explains why Joe would have grabbed Ben Gordon with Rip already on the roster. It explains why we drafted a boatload of versatile SF's who can play the 2, 3, or 4 spots.

WOW Round, this is a very good hunch. Bosh and Villi are thicker than thieves. This sounds really, really, really good.

If Summers is the backup for Gordon, he will have a lot of mismatches and I don't think any SG in the league can match up with him physically. WOW.

Hey Roscoe, would Toronto have to throw in another contract as filler?

That is what I was just thinking. If anyone would hear from Bosh about the pending trade, it would be CV. He probably shouldn't have posted his knowledge, but maybe he's just overly excited.

Also, maybe this was a big selling point to get CV to sign.

My brain hurts, I can't do this right now.

@Merc I can't figure out how extensions work. I don't think Toronto can extend Bosh right now.

@all, I did some more thinking, mostly trying to figure out how this would work.

We can add Bosh, and we can give him a max deal whenever the time is appropriate. I don't think Toronto is in the same situation. They are owned by MLSE (Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment) which is in turn owned (significantly) by the Ontario Teachers Union, and I can't see them paying luxury tax. They are totally about the bottom line (revenue) and not the sort of ownership that will spend to retain talent.

I think re-upping Bargs, signing Hedo etc means they might be going in another direction. In fact, I could see them making a play for Lee if Bosh is gone. Trade Bosh for Rip and Max, They have Calderon, Hamilton, Turkoglu, Max/Lee/Bargnani up front.

I'm pretty excited about tomorrow now. This is an counter theory to my "everyone is scared by deflation" theory. Perhaps people were waiting for Bosh to come free for an extension, so that all of the remaining FA pieces could begin to shuffle around.

If Joe pulls this off, I will never ever doubt him again.

I can't figure out the #s because I can't figure out if Bosh can get extended prior to being traded. The reason is, he signed a 3 + 1 year deal, and you can only extend a 4 year deal, not a 3 year deal. So I *think* he would have to take his option now (if that is possible). Then Toronto could extend him, and trade him to Detroit.

But if that is the case, I think the he's only a $15.5-ish million player, and we don't need to trade Max. Just Rip and Capp Spayce.

    to be continued...

I thought Riley offered Wade an extension? Why wouldn't Raptors be able to offer one to Bosh?

The reason why the trade might go down, is that Bosh can get paid, the Pistons can afford to absorb that salary if they move Rip, even with a deflating cap.

Toronto probably can't afford Bosh and he's going to take a beating in FA if he opts out, because a shrinking cap, means his max value is going to be a lot lower.

But there is so much grey area on this, I don't know how to work out the finer details. All I can say, is that I am 75% sure it is possible from a technical standpoint, and 95% sure it is desirable to all three parties (Tor, Bosh and Det).

That would be even better. Gotta have extra bigs and Max could start if CV was ever injured.

Seems like Toronto would like to have a guy like Rip locked up for a few years. He's a good player and they wouldn't have to worry about losing him. His contract is hard to move because teams want flexibility, not because he is grossly overpaid.

They could, but he would become almost untradeable and they might have to pay tax. MLSE is notoriously cheap. I can't see them paying tax to field a winner. That is not how their ownership style has been with the Raps or Leafs.

They are in business to make money, not to win.

That's one hulluva a "Vibe" ... by the same token I was feeling that it wouldn't be Boozer either. But I was waaay off if that's the move. But I love this line of thinking though! :p_welldone:

If they could find a way to snag Rasho Nestorovic then they'd have the entire front line of the 2006 Raptors!

I know I set the table for it happening, but I don't want people to be resentful if it doesn't happen. I could have misread the situation, I could have misunderstood the nature of the contract extension (although I think I have that part right).

We won't know anything until tomorrow at the soonest.

What do you mean, I thought this was a done deal? I just ordered a #4 Bosh Piston jersey from NBA.com. (Think they'll un-retire it?)
