This team is better. When we get to the All-Star break one of two things is going to happen, I'm going to be talking some serious smack or I'm going to be taking it BIG TIME! Nothing left to do but lace em up and throw it up!!!!!! Anybody know when training camp starts.
I will join you with that prediction. The whole premise of this thread is a bit flawed anyway. As if we could pull Sheed and Dyess from last year. I think we have to compare how they do this year on their teams to how CV, Wilcox and Ben Wallace do. Also how Amir stacks up against Day. Gordan vs CB now. We will see.
Lee, you just lost the arguement with this sentence. Get used to this stat line for the 2009 Toronto Raptors: Amir Johnson - DNP-CD
I just noticed that the ESPN headline for the Amir Johnson trade to Toronto reads: "Raptors to trade Delfino to Bucks" When you are involved in a trade where Carlos Delfino gets the headline instead of you, you suck something pretty awful.
That made me laugh. Didn't Amir come right out of High School? Maybe he should have gone to college and developed his game a bit. Taken some courses too...Fouling 101?
Depends on what the definition of is is. Actually pardon the Bill Clinton reference, I meant better. Going forward, sure the team has a brighter future and a more competitive team in the sense that they are more likely to go out there and fight for games rather than lay down. More talented, that remains to be seen. But if your asking if the Pistons are noticeably better than a sub .500, 8th seed, the answer is no.
Fliup's team ran ot of gas and ideas but this young team - there is a lot of welcomed freshness but how far they can go - we will see.
http://www.pistonsforum.com/detroit-pistons-general-discussion/8970-predict-amirs-future.html I had to go back and see what I guessed, I am sure a few of you will do the same. Here's another poll on Amir http://www.pistonsforum.com/detroit...ussion/8964-amir-johnsons-2008-9-minutes.html
I guessed "solid bench player", so I didn't do so bad. I was wondering if I guessed "all star" or something and was relieved I didn't.
Well, it was before last season started and I guessed "solid starter", which is both wrong and right. I'll concede that "solid" is an overstatement due to the heavy fouling, but on the other hand, he did turn out to be a starter for a long period of time, which was part of the guess. But he was also a bench player for an equally long period of time... and got DNP-CD's for a bunch of games as well... but from a coach who was fired for his ineptitude. Nemo, your "out of the league in 3 years" may also turn out to come true. For instance, he could get terribly injured. That poll was sort of open-ended I guess and provided for multiple right answers. As far as the minutes per game, those geniuses who guessed 10-19 mpg were right on the money. He averaged 14.7mpg in games where he played and 11.1 if you take his total minutes played and distribute over all 82 games. I will have to go see what I guessed.
Just went back and looked at those two polls on Amir.. My first thoughts; #1. Explains alot #2. Some things are better left unsaid (30 seconds later, more grunting & thinking goin on) #3. Some things are still better left unsaid
My examples of what each category means. Superstar - LeBron James All-Star - Chauncey Billups Solid Starter - Tayshaun Prince Solid Bench Player - Kwame Brown Marginal Bench Player - Walter Hermann Out in three years - Amir Johnson
LOL. True. But I'd like to hear it anyhow because I'm a bit slow (as I am sure some others are) and I'm not sure where you are going with this and I am thinking we would find it verrrrrrrrrrry interesting.
