It would have taken a lot of balls, but we could have offered Sheed, Murray and 2 first rounders. I'm pretty sure a deal like that would open the door to move Webber.
Who is the owner? What is He or She like? I think we need a woman owner like the wild woman who owned the Reds. Was Schott her name? Someone like that could straighten Stern out.
Good trade for both teams. Philly will have 4 of the top 32 players or so in a very deep draft. I would be hiring twice as many scouts for the next 6 months if I were them. I'd also hire LB and other competent people to draft me a team! Philly wasn't going anywhere anyways. Now they have a chance to build something really special if they draft smart.
You will see Ron Artest and Stephen Jackson winning the sportsmanship award before Stern lets someone like Marge Schott buy into an NBA team.
What about them potentially trading up in the draft? It seems to me that they should be able to grab GO if they want.
Good question. Karl & LB may share a UNC link...but that's it. LB is very diplomatic in dealing with the game on & off-court...he deals with the NBA rationally. On the other hand...Karl's public blow-up on Zeke made him look like a madman...WAY outta control. The Karl/Iverson pairing may make for interesting press thru the end of the season.
Very interesting that this trade went down right after the suspension was announced. Seems like Denver wanted AI immediately to make up for those points that would have come from Melo. I agree with whomever said that if Camby stays healthy and another big shows up who can rebound and defend, look out. We know they will be able to score.
That's a good point on the balls. I do think that a lot of guys like the new ball, just not that it was forced upon them. A vote would have been a perfect idea. Maybe in the future, they could put a potential change like that into play in the preseason for 5 games or so. Then they could take a vote to see if the players like it or not. This would be OK for rules changes too.
The link goes to true hoop. I was just giving credit for the info on the AI interview with John Thompson.
I don't know if everyone noticed, but AI came off the bench last night and dropped 10 dimes and I think 22 points. He sat out the first 8 and a half minutes, and then finished out the game. One blogger noted that outside of Iverson (9-15?) the rest of the Nuggets shot 33%. This is all without the benefit of a practice, as he got indoctrinated in the offensive scheme during timeouts. When Denver gets its full lineup back, they could be very, very dangerous. I'm happy to know that whoever comes out of the West will have to go through the torture test of San Antonio, Dallas, Phoenix, Utah and Denver. The Western rep in the Finals will no doubt be great, but they should be worn down a little as well.
Agree with you 100%. With Camby, Mr Hit & Run, JR Smith & Nene back from injuries and suspension respectively, this team is dangerous. Personally, I think AI is underrated as a defender. When they have the whole team, they can do it both defensively and offensively. They may not win the Western Conference this year but still may caused headaches to their foe come the playoffs.
IMO they are still 6th seed in the West and that is only because Yao and TM are out. With Yao and TM it would be a tossup for 6th seed in the West between the Mile Highs and the Oil Men. West Seed as of this AM - Takes into account injuries. -------------------------- 1. Alamos 2. Desert Smurfs 3. Cubans 4. Mormons 5. Fakers 6. Mile Highs 7. Redwood Oracles 8. Clipper Ships (More by Heart than Head)
Agree here JZ. The key IMO, is remaining healthy and Nene. We know what to expect from everyone else. Nene and Camby controlling the boards and providing good defense might carry them to an upset of Dallas, SA, or Phoenix.
