Aw shucks. I'll miss him.
Several years ago, when the Sonics were still an NBA team, I went to watch the Pistons at Key Arena. It was my birthday, and seven of my friends went with me. Maxiell had been playing very well, and he made a couple of ESPN highlight dunk reels in the previous several weeks.
I bought a bunch of T-Shirts and spray painted M-A-X-I-E-L-L and one that said Babyeater and made my friends wear them so we could get on TV when Jason had a monster dunk on the hapless Sonics.
It was a great game, but JMax had a real quiet night. Some of my Seattle friends wondered why we spelled out Maxiell instead of WALLACE!
I'll miss him too. Wasn't a starter, but that wasn't his fault.
Yea, that weak contract really showed his value. He has 1 year guaranteed at $2.5 million with the 2nd year being a team option. The Pistons have been paying him $5 million per season over the last 4 seasons.
I loved his heart, his attitude, his energy, and his class. I disliked his game. I'm glad to see him go. I wish him the best of luck!!
Dammed by faint praise!
Glad for Jason, he deserves to continue at least another year of career. My best wishes and great time in Orlando, take good care of your eyes.
I didn't mind his game, as long as I only saw 15 minutes of it. Because thats what he is, the perfect high energy forward to bring off the bench to gobble up rebounds, bump and scrap.
We brought him on for 30 minutes to jack 18 footers. That was turrible.
Maxey always played hard. Like Bynum you could bury him on the bench for weeks and he'd be ready when called on.
His contract wasn't that bad especially back when he signed it.
