Don't forget to listen to the Joe Dumars interview from yesterday on WDFN 1130 AM http://www.pistonsforum.com/green-room-forum-lounge/4177-joe-dumars-wdfn-1130am-9-6-06-a.html
This is so "Way Cool". I think his record as VP of Pistons Basketball Operations (if that is the correct title) was considered. Well that makes two of the three core Bad Boys in the HOF. Unfortunately Big Bad Bill will probably never make it, which is a real shame. Though he might get in the WNBA HOF as a coach. LOL. Go Shock - One more win for their 2nd WNBA title in 3 years. Congrads to Joe D. and too bad he couldn't teach "The Jordan Rules" to either C-Bill or RIP for use against Mr. Wade.
I'm watching the Hall of Fame Press Conference on NBATV right now. Hooray for Joe. He looks calm and happy. Charles messed up in his short speech. He had a Freudian slip and said Bill Laimbeer when he was talking about Joe Dumars. He said "I always said that Bill Laimbeer was the best player on that Detroit Pistons team and I'm glad to see him finally getting the recognition he deserved." LOL. I'm sure that's what I heard. I'm not taping it so I can't check. I bet he doesn't make the same mistake tonight.
Laimbeer and Barkley had a VERY antagonistic relationship as players. That is one heck of a Freudian Slip.
Joe is burned on my mind doing a few things. The way he dribbled in a crouch with his head leaning forward The trademark "shoe clicks" when he shot a jumper at the apex of his elevation The way he would layup off the glass finishing a fast break George Blaha, "Rainbows.... and it goes" when Joe would nail a jumper WDFN 1130 AM is supposed to interrupt (soon) programming to broadcast Joe from the podium making his speech.
Bummer. I wonder if it was open to the public? It's only about a half-hour from where I live. Something tells me it wasn't open to the public though.
So it is possible that, given some more success, Joe could make it to the hall again as an exec.? They stated that his work in the front office was supposed to have nothing to do with his induction. However, I remember when we were told he was going to be inducted, it seemed every article I read mentioned his front office work.
