I appreciate your thinking here. We all know it's easier to replace a coaching staff than a starting lineup.

Pudge was cancerous on a team that had Alan Trammell as the manager, but has become a professional again under the leadership of Jim Leyland. The right leader can cause a great deal of change in players attitude and performance.

Joe's smart enough not to make an emotional decision based on guys' attitudes toward a coach that's no longer here. Be careful about trading a grumpy talented player for less talent and a better attitude. Attitudes can change given the right circumstances.

There seems to be a lot a agreement in the forum that the players chaffed under LB's "tight-reigned" offensive system. I think this is over-blown. LB just wanted them to take good shots (not quick 3's).

I think the players had a bigger problem with RC's offensive system. It was always just a two man game with Rip and CB, and we hung our hat on playing defense. LB was a breath of fresh air for the other players, particularly Ben.

I'm sure that's what Joe is thinking about right now as I write this: I should hire that guy on the detnews forum who thinks we should have never cut Sammy Mejia and that Cheik Samb should have been getting minutes in the playoffs.

1-12 = Pepe Sanchez, Carlos Arroyo, Carlos Delfino, Darko, Rodney "quick hands" White, Will Blalock (3-point specialist), Cheikh Samb, Sammy Meija, Arron Afflalo, Amir Johnson + whoever ends up being the Pistons' two '08 draft picks.

Rotation - Pepe, Arroyo, Delfino, Amir, Darko

    Blalock, Afflalo, White, Meija, Samb

5 min into 1st, Blalock for Sanchez (for 3 point shooting)
8 min left in 1st - Samb replaces Delfino (note Samb, Amir + Darko is quite a defense!)
2nd quarter, Rodney White, Afflalo, Pig Pen, Blalock, Meija, Darko........

Need to invite Acker and Paulding to the summer camp. And don't forget that big strong center from Greece that ended up going back.

Speaking of responsibility. Why not just have a team full of Hunters and Theo's. That way, when know one can score among them, it will at least be noones fault since nobody has any expectations of them.

Paulding never showed anybody any reason he should get a shot at the NBA. Acker, at least last we saw him, still could not keep an NBA guard in front of him. (But otherwise did have a lot of game on both ends of the floor.)

    Don't quit your day job.

I guarantee by the end of the first day somebody would go Sprewell on you.

If you really believe what you stated above, you need therapy.

I had some issues with Joe's carefully crafted wording. He stated every was to blame. But when everyone is to blame, no one is truly accountable. Also, he didn't really get into why Flip was let go other than the "bottom Line". If you don't acknowledge what went wrong specifically, you can easilly make a decision that doesn't correct the problem. While I agree with firing Flip, I hope he is secretly keeping in mind the mistakes that Flip made, otherwise its all a cop out and just a way to obscure any analysis of what Curry needs to bring to the table.

Lastly, he acts as if he's going to sit back and wait for offers. He really needs to aggressively go after players that can help his team. He doesn't realize that after seeing the team flame out in the playoffs, other GMs may not be running to get these guys.

I felt his comments didn't amount to much, because he gave himself an out for when he doesn't really make any big changes.

Do you think Joe is going to spill all his guts to the public about what really was wrong with the team and Flip?

    "In Joe I trust"

Joe said about discord on the team, he said about not playing youth enough, he said about not getting to the finals. What other reasons do you need to let a coach go?

He said the last 10 minutes of that terrible game were a microcosm of the last 3 years.

That means "Flip, you suck, I'm sorry I ever hired you, you're a failure." At least that is how it comes across to me.

Exactly. JD in the public arena, talks a very good game. Had he made an early year trade, we would have been in the finals. A minimum of two starers have to go. Sheed and Tay combined will get you a go-to player.

I think this "out" was intentional. It keeps the price tag real for these players. Dumars would have painted himself into a corner and gave the other GM's the upper hand in negotiations if he had jumped off the cliff. It's kind of like the difference between a bank putting up a property in a auction versus just putting it up for sale. You rarely get what the property is actually worth in an auction. Dumars simply said his property is for sale if the price is right. I think it was smart.

He said the last 10 minutes of that terrible game were a microcosm of the last three years.

That means, "Starters, you suck...I'm sorry I didn't stop all trash talk of the "switch" as soon as I heard it. I am still mad at you malcontents days later when I am at the press conference announcing my new coach." "Curry is my hand picked puppet and he is here to make your lives miserable."

I say 40% of the public need therapy. Thats how many approved Curry's selection on a poll at detnews.com.
