After 13 years as Pistons President of Basketball Operations, Dumars is planning to resign at the end of this current season as to give management a chance to prepare for the 2013 NBA Draft. Dumars became the Pistons' President of Basketball Operations prior to the 2000–01 season. He was voted the league's Executive of the Year for the 2002-03 season and quietly went on to build the team that won the 2004 NBA Championship and became the 2005 NBA Eastern Conference Champions—doing so largely with players who had been discarded by other franchises. The Pistons made it to the Eastern Conference Finals six straight years (2003–2008) under Dumars' watch. This streak would come to an end in the 2008–09 season. The Pistons would get swept in the first round by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Dumars was majority owner as well as CEO and President of Detroit Technologies for approximately 10 years. Founded by Dumars in 1996, DTI is an automotive supply company. He sold off his interest in the company in 2006 to pursue other business interests and focus on his role as Pistons' President of Basketball Operations. April 1 is a great day to fool all of my good friends who chose to read this article. Dumars oversaw a joint venture deal in 2006 Between Detroit Technologies and TSI.
The Joe Dumars Fieldhouse, an indoor sports and entertainment facility, has two locations in the Metro-Detroit area: in Shelby Township at M-59 and Mound Road and in Detroit at the State Fairgrounds. In an interview with DBusiness magazine (link below), Dumars stated he was in talks to expand the fieldhouses to other states.
May God bless Joe and his family in all his future endeavors.

When I looked at it...I noticed that the first sentence had a slightly different font. An added sentence by a clever prankster.

To me, the funny thing is the fact that someday, Joe will actually announce that he's stepping down and this is the thread where we'll all talk about it.

From an NBA head coach to Rutgers? What a great career move. I'm sure Popovich, Rivers, D'Antoni, etc. will be in competition with Frank for this opening.

I'd offer him the role of head coach of my team...

    But I like winning.

Granted it may not be a great career move, but it may get him closer to his family and gives him more control over the program instead of looking over your shoulder all the time. I know that Rutgers is no UK or Louisville but Pitino did go from the Knicks to UK to the Celtics and back to Louisville.

The Athletic director maybe on his way out since he claimed that he had previous discussions about the incident with the University president and now it appears that he first saw it yesterday.

Frank can coach or just be the big man on campus running the whole sports program......Bo was able to do in Ann Arbor when we thought he only knew football (Bo knows).

Our options would be Laimbeer, JVGundy, Izzo, Zeke, Mike Brown, Phil Jackson, Scott Skiles, Nate McMillan......anybody standouts from that group that would love to come to Motown other than Laims??

Frank should go help Rutgers compete in the Big 10.
Laimbeer would provide the Pistons with "instant identity".

When have you seen an NBA coach leave a job in the middle of a contract on his own terms to take a lesser job.

Is coaching a last-place NBA team a better gig than putting your stamp on a Big 10 basketball program in its' first season in your home state?
...Personally, I'd lean toward Detroit but it's probably a bit more enticing for the Frankster. His wife has dome health issues and the Rutgers gig would afford him the opportuity to be home with her a lot more.
