The (very) minor trade Detroit has agreed to with the Los Angeles Clippers -- sending Alex Acker to L.A. for nothing more than a future swap of second-round picks -- appealed to the Pistons for obvious reasons. They were $731,868 over the NBA's $71.15 million luxury-tax threshold as of Sunday morning. Shedding Acker's 2008-09 salary of $711,517 almost gets them under the tax line.

    However ...
The conspiracy theorists among Joe Dumars' front-office peers around the league will inevitably surmise that the Pistons might need the extra roster spot because they're closing in on some sort of Stoudemire deal. The combination of Rasheed Wallace's expiring contract and young forward Amir Johnson would appear to be Detroit's best offer -- and thus not quite in Chicago's class -- but there are a couple well-connected league insiders who believe that Dumars still has hope of winning the Amare Sweepstakes.

Hill already said he will rather retire then be traded.

So it will Barnes...but this should really be in the Amare thread.

Yeah, well that's what the Clippers' fans were saying before they got Acker.

And the best part is they are blind to the power of Acker for the time being.

I for one am hoping against hope that we can get him, babble :bs: or not he would be a difference maker. I would much rather go into next season not having won anything with Amare then throw away this season and be in the same spot.

Fingers and toes crossed, no matter what anyone says.

Bosh any day of the week for the following reasons:

    1. Bosh didn't have major knee surgery.
    2. Better defender
    3. Bosh's offensive game is more adapted to not having a superstar pg. What I mean is that Bosh can create for himself more than Stoudemire can.
    4. No way Stoudemire is just as effective as Bosh on offense. I'm not saying Stoudemire is one dimensional and I even said his jumper has improved in my original post. I'm just saying Bosh's jumper is so much better than Amare's with more range as well. Good point on Bosh having more post moves. I think Stoudemire is disgusting attacking the rim which he does better than Bosh. I just think Bosh can create for himself better because of his superior jumper and better post game. I think if Bosh was on the Suns with that run and gun offense he would be putting up 28 and 11 a game. I think they are equal rebounders, but I just like Bosh more. I think Stoudemire is just as effective as Bosh if he is in the right system. BUT, I was saying Bosh is more effective based on his game and how he would fit in with our team.

    5. Bosh is pretty athletic but not on Amare's level. However,Amare relies more on his athleticism versus his skill set. I think Bosh uses his bball skills more than his athleticism.

If we get Bosh or Stoudemire, I am stoked either way. The thing that will make/break that pick up or trade is who we have in the front court next to him. If we get Bosh we need a low post center next to him so it will free up the floor. If we get Stoudemire we need more of a jump shooting center that will keep the lane clear for Stoudemire to work on offense.

You wrote that. I am editing my son's poem for a project he is doing over the break. I am impressed. Really great, Roscoe.

That is exactly how I see it. Either would be good, but they are different and their "fit" needs to be considered. Bosh would pair up better with Kwame, Maxiell, or Amir than Amare would. Sheed and Dyess would pair up better with Amare, but Sheed would probably have to be traded to get him and Dyess is waning.

Nice job scoe...nuthin' like great lyrics to a great tune.

IIRC there was a lyrics battle on the detnews board during the 05 Finals between bbills and someone from SA. I forget the tune and the lyrics but remember laughing my butt off. Too bad that stuff is virtually impossible to search over there.

It's gone now. I think the Detnews board only holds the last 10,000 posts. You might be able to find it through archive.org. Maybe.
