ESPN - Sources: Bucks lure Hammond away from Dumars' side to be new GM - NBA check this out.. sad to see him go.. he was good..
I agree, this is sad news. However, on a personal level - this is GREAT news for BallDon'tLie!!! Now I will get to sit next to Joe at all future Pistons games!
WORD! I'm not sure this was such a big deal. He would do the pre-game radio show, and I heard him say Juan Dixon had a reputation in the league as a defender, and thought.... UGH. What is bad, is that Hammond may try to make runs at Pistons FAs because he has an intimate knowledge of this franchise.
Right. he might run at guys Joe has been looking at and following. The Pistons should be like the mafia. Once you're in, you can never leave the family.
Or maybe he will be Joe's agent on another team. We already have one in Seattle. That's real mafia for you.
Seems a little suspicious how they were talking about this obscure front office position for Hunter next year that did not seem to exist. Then all of a sudden something opens up like this.
This doesn't surprise me and actually, I think that it lasted longer than expected. On one hand, you are left with a number of questions: How much and with what degree will Hammond impart to his new organization? This is usually known as the Four Balanced Score Card objectives: Financial Customer Business Processes Learning and Growth Mentoring aspects are important to an organization's stability and while it will take some time for Hammond's approach to filter throughout the organization, it will even out the Piston's advantages. The replacement move for JD will be extremely important for the Pistons. Mr. D is at the end of the long line. Ownership, leadership and organizational strategies will more than likely take a new directions. With new a owner (s), possible centralizations decisions may change and this can happen rather quickly. Michael Porter, in his books, frame some important strategic process questions (competitive force analysis): Entry of competitors Threat of substitutes Bargaining power of buyers Bargaining power of suppliers Rivalry among the existing players All you GM's (meaning the core forum members) who take the easy route of blame linking the sole source (coach), might soon have to start thinking about some other questions.
We, armchair GM-s, prefer simple answers. Our questions are basically black and white. It is much easier to point towards one character and put all the blame on him instead of taking into considerations complexity of problems. Fans "decisions" rely largery on emotions and therefore there isn't much perspective, e.g. Fire coach! . But who will be replacement? Will he be actually better? Why there should be better coach in waiting?
