Judge them however you want. Talent, results, potential, size, career longevity, physical attractiveness, relative salary, attitude, style, whatever.

Now we are just trying to make Jonas look good here, by comparing with Amir. Amir was a bench warmer in the rookie year.

You don't have to compare them in rookie years. Use any standard you want. You can compare Jonas now with Amir now. You can compare Jonas later with Amir later. It is up to you.

@TaS, I knew you would vote DR.

Amir played 3 years and contributed absolutely NOTHING to this franchise but the usual ESPN highlight snippets. JJ is 30 minutes of hard work all night and like Ive said before- it is what happens BEHIND the scenes and at practice that gets a player his minutes.

In 2014 JJ will lead the Pistons on a post season triumphal tour of Scandinavia after winning the NBA title. While there Arnie will fall into a fiord while searching for a rare species of berry. He'll be rescued by a lovely blond women and live happily forever researching the medicinal properties of reindeer poop.

What did Amir ever do for Arnie?

He's like the basketball equivalent of Barry Sanders in my book. Each year I think he's making his triumphant comeback, but it never actually materializes. Such a waste of talent.

Here is an apples to apples for all you realists out there (per 36 minutes)

    Stat: Amir/ Jonas/ Reid (at age 23)
    Pts: 10.4/ 9.9/ 10.3
    Reb: 10.0/ 6.9/ 7.9
    Ast: 0.7/ 0.8/ 1.1
    Stl: 1.2/ 0.7/ 1.2
    Blk: 1.3/ 0.6/ 1.2
    Tov: 1.8/ 1.8/ 1.8
    PF: 7.2/ 4.6/ 8.2

These guys are actually way more similar that I would have thought. Especially Reid and Amir. Look at the turnovers... all 3 of these guys with a 1.8/36min average. Very coincidental.

They all score at about the same rate... although Amir is taking the fewest shots possible and shooting a ridiculously high FG%. I'd give the edge here to Amir.

In rebounds, there really is no comparison. Amir pulls them down.

With passing, Reid was the talented one. Amir and JJ are about the same.

JJ is surprisingly behind in the steals category too. Maybe because he is guarding more SF's, who are better with the ball.

In blocks, it's Amir and Don Reid. Amir is below his career average this year, but it still leads this pack.

Also surprising was that Reid (a stellar defender) was more foul prone at age 23 than Amir. But if it is lack of fouls that you are looking for in a player, Jonas is your man. He can almost average an entire game without fouling out.

Somewhere in Auburn Hills, you can look through some Guardian Glass to get a clear view of the practice court of a NBA franchise and see an un-signed, undersized Center/PF working out privately; honing his game for his triumphant return.

    Keep the faith TaS!
DR is one Chris Wilcox injury away from getting the nod.

Well, I guess this is sort of true since Tayshaun got injured at practice. We all know THAT is the only reason he's playing 30mpg. Jonas played 6 minutes total in the 3 games that Tayshaun played in (though Jonas was only eligible for 2)

The best way to look at shooting percentages is eFG and TS%.

    Stat: Amir/ Jonas/ Reid (23 yrs)
    FGA/36: 6.4/ 7.9/ 8.7
    eFG%: .609/ .519/ .482
    TS%: .637/ .544/ .523

Amir takes the fewest shots and shoots the highest %. > 80% of his attempts are from inside the paint and he converts them very efficiently. For instance, Amir has a higher TS% this year than Shaq ever had in any year (and he was the man in this stat).

The comparison criteria I chose was Jonas NOW versus Amir at age 2.

if amir could have stayed on the court as long as JJ has been able to I feel like it'd be a more fair comparison.

Dude is more foul prone than roadkill

We need fouls per 36 minutes, too.

Talent ~JJ ..he's allover the paint
results ~ JJ ..scoring, rebounds and playing time are better/higher
potential ~ AJ ..yep he had the raw potential...just was never tapped right
    size ~ JJ taller
career longevity ~ JJ... tall white guys can play for years
physical attractiveness ~JJ ..like swedish women, swedish guys have that beauty about them
attitude ~ AJ ..never complained about sitting on the bench and still getting paid
style ~ Aj's ..cornrolls never turned me on. JJ has a mini Kate Gosselein dew
whatever~JJ wins my vote despite the 20 games vs the 3 years wishing AJ would not get in a game and foul out

Unfortunately we all know that if Amir was here he couldn't have stayed in the game the game for 30MPG if given the chance.

I don't think any of us wanted Amir to fail, but when given the chance he never could put two games back to back.

Crazy stat: Amir has never had back to back double digit games.

Amir has never played 30 minutes back to back.
