I think Daye and Jerebko could very well be our starting forwards in a couple of season, but it could be Jerebko at the SF and Daye at PF.
So does this mean we are officially done with Wilcox? Because Maxiel has really fought and earned his backup minutes, and we all know there's no way in heck you can pair Vill and Weezy together.
Looks like Kuester is sort of conducting a Jonas Jerebko vs. Jason Maxiell experiment on the court. Healthy competition and they both seem to be rising to the challenge so far.
Definitely both of them have done their part to get the most [STRIKE]tommy[/STRIKE] Kuester points these last 2 games. JJ in the first half and JMAX in the 4th qtr.
at the start of the season they were comparable players. both were envisioned to similar roles: PF backup for 15-20 min. But as season has progressed, the gap has widened: AJ has remained to his small role but JJ has demonstrated that he is far more versatile player than AJ.
I'm liking Tay and Jerebko on the court together. Ultimately, I see Daye and Jerebko being even better together. Maxiell as an energy big man off the bench is looking more and more like a very nice thing for the team. I hope Max keeps that up - I've been pretty down on him the last couple of seasons.
In all fairness nobody expected JJ to have such an immediate impact, and who knows, if Tay did not get injured at the start of the season maybe Hollinger's preseason analysis would have been right.
I think their stats per minute are similar. AJ rebounds better and shoots for a higher percentage, while JJ commits way fewer PFs. AJ's +/- stats are better, but that could be because his team is considerably better. But in that they are the same age with similar stats, and JJ is going to start in the Rookie/Sophmore All Star Game, doesn't that indicate just how good a player AJ is also? Let me put it this way, AJ is having a much better year than Wilcox, who effectively replaced AJ on the roster. So again, was there some reason we couldn't have had both AJ and JJ on the roster?
