Are NBA assistants drug tested or is it cool for them to smoke grass?
Should be cool.
If we could only pick one out of Siva and English, I would have to take Siva.
So would I
I kinda agree. He's the only pass-1st PG on the roster right now. You could always put him in there when the offense stagnates and you need some ball movement. We're sorta set at SG with The Pontiff, Chauncey, Middleton and BK/Bynum (in certain situations) - all able to play the position.
Actually, if I had my way, I would release Stuckey, save $4 million, and open up a roster spot. And, while I was at it, I would amnesty CV, and save another $8 million. Screw the expiring contracts. Let's just freakin' move on.
He is that.
Another solid alternative
Just read a blurb from Detroit Sports Nation on Facebook that the Pistons have released Kim....we all figured it would happen...just waiting for confirmation from a more creditable source...
Here it is: Vincent Ellis @Vincent_Ellis56 Kim English was released by the #Pistons today. Second year of two-year deal was not guaranteed. He's a UFA.
And then there were 16.....
Gores commitment to winning is apparently less than 788K unless they have a definite move in place. I know he wasn't setting the world afire but I think they could have given him a chance to earn a spot in training camp. He is a better shooter then he's shown and he could have been a potential D and 3 guy for little $$. He'd also build up the team if he were the 15th guy not dressing. Lee post incoming
If you can't make an impact against kids in summer league, perhaps you aren't going to be a major cog in a growing NBA franchise looking to make a playoff push. English seems like a very nice guy, smart player, and classy dude, but it's time to part ways.
The reason to cut him now rather than in camp gives him a chance to catch on with someone else. Keeping him then cutting him in camp would really limit his options.
Joe D taking care of his players once again....
If he wants to take care of his players then he should have kept him. Maybe he's not a 1 on 1 player? Maybe he was just having a rough stretch? Or Maybe he stinks? He showed promise shooting last year, finished on some breaks and wants to D up. I think the Pistons might be able to use those things. He might play better with the real team. If he doesn't you eat the 778,000 for a year(!!!) and don't sweat the minimum salary threshold so much when evaluating (or is it excusing?) your other moves. There a million justifications for making this move. I just don't think being !00% die-hard committed to winning is one of them, No one even knows if this Damone guy can even play yet. CTC.
He would have 887K + whatever he got playing in the D league or elsewhere. That's a dead end on Park Avenue.
With Pope on board as a 3D shooting guard, English became expendable.
Separate names with a comma.
