Lions Kitna is out for the season. Does Orlovsky get another attempt or does Stanton start getting some chances? Do the Lions sign a 3rd QB now?
I say turn Stanton loose and see what he can do. Orlovsky is a free agent after this season. I have a feeling that Kitna will either be released or traded before the start of next season. His attitude has gone steadily down hill and he's old, but not willing to accept a backup role, so it's starter or pouter for him. The Lions still have Henson on the practice squad that they could add to the roster if Orlovsky or Stanton were to get hurt.
Henson's #3. Stanton will get snaps in coming weeks. Barring injury, there's no point to signing another QB until after the season.
This may be a blessing...and they can now build one of these other guys into real QB with on the job training instead wasting the season that is already lost a tired over-the-hill Kitna. Do you really want your boy starting for the Lions? He'll join the ranks of Ware, Peete, Hipple, Komlo, Kitna, Harrington, Batch (who I liked), Ferotte, Mitchell........
Yeah, I've got mixed feelings on that. Pretty sure he'll be a stud, but nobody can succeed with this team...
