Being a GM takes up your life. :( He used to play a ton of tennis, guess he doesn't have the time anymore. I also want to point out that Monroe shouldn't have any foul issues either. Athletic guys elevate to block shots more, leading to more fouls via pump fake, etc. Monroe plays position defense, a Pistons halmark.
Monroe has a very nice stroke. He seems to effortlessly make his free throws. Very nice change having a big man who can actually make his free throws consistently.
I am happy with Monroe's performance today. I hope that is just a taste. It's obvious he's not super athletic, but he is tough and he is deceptively fast. He needs more work finishing around the rim, but he has a real soft touch and his jumpers look good too. He's not a bad defender, and he works hard to rebound. I don't know that he has franchise player potential, but he can certainly play, and I hope to heck he can win a starting role.
Monroe finished with 27pts 14rebs on 8/10 shooting (11/16 from the line). Good for him. Summers was the 2nd lead scorer with 14 on 5/9 shooting. No Daye today. I agree that other than Daye, JJ and Monroe the rest are bums. Based on his play, I'd say Summers is borderline.
63 starts out of 75 games played 46% FG 70% FT 33.5 MPG 11.5 PPG 7.4 RPG 1.0 APG 1.4 BPG Can Monroe hit these numbers as a rookie?
Folks please be wary of equating athletecism with leaping ability. I think GM is very quick in the half-court, fast in the open court, can handle the rock, has good hands and footwork. He just doesn't have any hops, which is a good thing, forces you to actually play BASKETBALL. DeAndre Jordan can jump out of the gym. I personally can't wait to see him operate the pick&roll and that double high post set. If he can be our starting PF then we have a good portion of our future in place.
FYI, Cousins is 0/9 right now. Stinking up the gym. edit: Cousins just had a great behind the back pass to Whiteside (even though he got stuffed). Whiteside is an animal on defense though.
I think those #s are obtainable other than lowering the RPG to 6 and upping the APG to 2. side note: Cousins just finally scored after going 0/11.
it would make me wonder; I think he'll play in the 20-25mp range, having more like 7ppg to go with 4 rebs, 1 ast and .7 blks...
Yeah, I wanna know if that is the sort of rookie season people could expect from Monroe, and if they would be ok with it. The reason I ask, is that is Chris Bosh's rookie numbers.
I don't remember what else was on the raptor's roster that year.... but wasn't vince there? so that cut down on his points I would guess. What I would like to see from Monroe this year 12 6 and 2 in 25 mins a game, anything over that I will consider a bonus moving forward.
I'll go with... 63 starts out of 75 games played 49% FG 74% FT 28 MPG 9.2 PPG 8.2 RPG 1.7 APG 1.1 BPG
Monroe's got that all day I think. I think he'll start and give the Pistons 14-15 ppg, 7-8 rpg, and 3-4 apg. All day. You guys don't think he'd start over Jerebko? Or at least get the same amount of time out there?
Monroe and Jerebko compliment each other. They need to be on the court at the same time. I think Monroe will cut into JMax' minutes much more so than JJ's. He'll also gobble up whatever minutes Kwame used to get. I'm guessing: 16 mpg 6.7 ppg 5.4 rpg 2.3 apg 0.7 bpg
I agree about JJ complimenting GM. My guess: 24 MPG 9.0 PPG 6.5 RPG 2.5 APG 1.0 BPG I'd be satisfied with those numbers.
My Guess: 28 mpg 9.8 ppg 6.9 rpg 2.5 apg 0.7 bpg 42% FG 72% FT We have to save this and check it out in 10 months
