Question: Until you guys are settled at the point guard spot, you guys will be linked to every point guard on the market. Correct? (The question was referring to a rumor about Milwaukee Bucks point guard Brandon Jennings and rumors about offering Brandon Knight for Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo).

Joe Dumars: "(sighs) Unfortunately, yes. But I’m telling you we haven’t had conversations with what’s being reported out there. I can flat out tell you that we haven’t conversations with those teams about that."
(As published 24 hrs before trading Brandon Knight for Brandon Jennings)

Hammond is probably a friend, so it was the "off the record" conversation.

So, are you suggesting teams won't take an expiring contract? EVERONE loves Capp Spayce

Teams love expirings after you've paid for half of it.

Nevermind the fact that this kid is 2 YEARS in....we've rolled with Stuckey's special brand of awful for SIX YEARS...why bother hiring Mo Cheeks AND bringing Billips back only to ship off the guy that could benefit the most from them? All to pick up another trigger happy PG...I swear....if we.......ah, screw it.

You're missing the forest for the trees, think beyond THIS season, Joe made a trade AND kept Capp Spayce! IT would have been moronic to keep Knight AND Jennings (not that Joe is afraid of being moron). Maybe Stuckey taught him a lesson.

Joe is gunning for having assembled the team with the lowest BB IQ in the L with Smith, Stuckey and now Jennings on the roster.

Smith has really good BB IQ, particularly defensively. He is also a great passer.

I don't think I've seen Mogilny this upset since Frank benched his son.

Are you kidding me? Defensively, he has probably some of the best ball IQ in the league. Taking lots of long 2's, theoretically, is bad ball IQ, but he never got pulled up by his coaching staff on it. Me thinks there was probably a reason for that.

Sure, he didn't show up every night, but it was fairly obvious that he didn't love the situation in Atlanta.

Good passer and good team defender are high IQ traits.

His defensive IQ is average at best, he is a good defender because of his athleticism.

    Not my plan.
My plan was be to funnel the additional money that we are spending on Jennings directly to Paul George's agent and immediate family members. I'm talking cars, boats, houses, jewelry, charitable contributions, trips, expensive wine, nice dinners, etc.

    Where am I?
If I counted the player correctly, we still have one more spot to fill. I guess it will be a back-up big, since TRG was traded. Any words yet on who we might sign?

Maybe, but the point is, this is why people think they're being lied to and why Joe D doesn't get the benefit of the doubt with a lot of fans. This isn't the 1st time and it gets old to have the GM come out and say something only to have it be completely false in less than 24 hrs. It's frustrating, as a fan. I'd much rather just have him not give these interviews or answer the question if we're just going to get rhetoric and BS.

His job as a GM is to make the team better. So he shouldn't be disclosing any information that he feels could detrimental to the negotiations. Another thing is that if the trade doesn't go through he is potentially creating a friction on the team with the player that could have been traded. This is a business and I am behind Joe on this 100%.
