Not really but you could make a case for him talking about the payoffs at the end of the season, like the payoff you get if you win a lottery. This confusion is probably just a result of some journalists bad hearing and Jonas not speaking his native language.

After studying carefully Jonas' words - he DID not say WHEN Pistons will be in the playoffs. Nah...tha's not so convincing, huh...better...this one... more likely he KNOWS - Pistons will be relocated to Developement League and actually there is a chance...

If the Pistons were automatically gifted into the playoffs and there was a rule that we couldn't be eliminated, how many games would it take for us to get through all rounds and win the title?

Since we'd be playing only the top teams throughout the playoffs, and 16 wins is required, and we're using our current bunch.........I'd say about 259 games..............

depends.... if the other team knows that no matter how many times they win, they can't advance... they might just lay down.....

That was my assumption when I predicted 82.

The rule is that the other team thinks that every game is a do or die game 7... repeatedly. And they have no memory of the earlier beat downs that they gave our squad.

My guess is that we wouldn't be able to do it due to injuries that would eventually accumulate and overtake us after a few hundred games. After that, you'd be talking years... and then the inevitable aging of players would do us in. We'd have to make up a rule that offspring could help in the effort.

I just noticed that Jerebko doesn't mention the Pistons in his quote. He just says "our" and "we". Maybe he is speaking for himself and his family and he will accomplish it this year on another team? Fate has a funny way of coming true, no matter how much you try to avoid it (loosely based this quote on something the tortoise said in Kung Fu Panda).

Now that you mention it, I have never seen Jerebko and Kung Fu Panda together. Perhaps they are the same person? Resemblance?

Three things need to happen for this to become true:
    1. Joe needs to draft well.
    2. The Pistons need NO LESS than 4 new rotation players who contribute on a nightly basis.
    3. Current roster players who are hold-overs have to improve.

Some other things that will help:
    - Addition by subtraction of some overpaid players who take minutes away from players that would better perform in their role.
    - A modest FA signing to get Greg Monroe some help (especially on defense).
    - Joe decides to use logic over sentiment when deciding whether to re-sign current players and what kind of contract they're offered.

You guys are pessimistic. We are currently tied for top seed in the Eastern Conference for the 2013 playoffs.

Yeah, we're in a dead-heat with the Charlotte Bobcats!

    Jeb is completely baked:
What current EC playoff teams does Jonas think that his team is going to bump out?
Orlando? ...maybe. But they're going to pull out all the stops to bring some FA's to keep D-Ho in Disneyland.
    Philly? ...nope. They'll be better.
New York? ...maybe. Carmelo will figure out a way to ruin that team. The Knicks got some talent though.
Boston? ...possibly. Ainge seems bent on blowing that thing up.
Indiana? ...no way. They're going to be way good next year.
Atlanta? ...nope. They'll get Horford back and tweek the roster for some scoring help.
Miami? ...I wish. I relly dislike that team.
    Chicago? ...C'mon man?
Milwaukee? ...I think that they're in next year.
Cleveland? ...They'll be better than the Pistons. Tons of cap room and a top pick to go along with Irving, Thompson, Gee, etc.
Toronto? ...Hmmm. IMO, they're equal to us.
Washington? ...Pistons will be better unless Washington scores in the lottery.
    Charlotte? ...Pistons will be better.

IMO; We're tied with Toronto. Boston and Charlotte will be behind us. That pretty much makes us 9th or 10th in the East next season. THIS is what you have to look forward to when your 4 highest paid players are good for combined total of around 35 points, 7 assists and 7 boards on any given night.

Making the playoffs in the East is not a big accomplishment. I don't doubt that it is achievable.
