By himself, no; but he's a pot sweetner. So I propose the following, even though it still doesn't solve our main issue which is in the backcourt and on the wing: NBA Trade Machine - ESPN Utah has to make a decision and right now he's getting in the way of Derrick Favors. A 3 big rotation of Millsap, Monroe and Drummond would be solid.
That particular trade ain't ever going to happen. Despite the fact that Millsap probably will get traded, they wouldn't take Prince and JJ for him. Although they might take Stuckey.
The Jazz can do much better than that. Although, they *might* be interested in Stuckey. He would be an upgrade over Raja Bell, who is an overrated player IMO.
In a perfect world, Stuckey for Milsap straight up. ...the world ain't perfect though. Prolly have to be something like: Stuckey, Jerebko and a future 1st rounder to Utah for Milsap & Bell. - Pistons would be getting the best player in the deal and un-doing the mistake of Stuckey's contract and both Bell and Millsap are expiring deals. - Utah would be upgrading their 2-guard or at least enabling themselves to move Hayward to the two and start Jonas at SF. ...& they'd get a decent future pick. Piston's linup would be: Brevin Singular TayP worm and a three-headed monster of bigs in Drummond, Monroe and 'Sap. Looking to next year, we have a GRIP of cap space to work with to build whatever team we want to. If we keep the tank on the right track we'd could possibly have: PG: Knight, FA SG: Lotto, Singler, English SF: Josh Smith, Tay, Middleton PF: Milsap or Monroe starting with the other as a backup. C: Drummond or Monroe starting with the other guy and TRG as a backup. Cap Wise: Maggette (-10m), Daye (-3m), Max (-5), Rip (-6), Bynum (-3m), Amnesty Charlie (-9) = $36 mil. ...I'd like to think that Joe could sign Smith, Millsap, 2013 lotto pick, and a couple FA glue guys for $36 million. Im not sying that THIS is the way to go but it's a way that Joe could go.
Bell doesn't play. They're starting Hayward at the SG spot and giving the backup minutes to Randy Foye, a better version of Stuckey.
Utah can only keep 1, either Milsap or BigAL via free agency. I think they're leaning towards Millsap as they actually offered him an extension to the tune of 3 years and $25 Million, Millsap wants at least 4 years and $40Million. I can't imgagine Utah making that kind of investment into Millsap while trying to bring up Favors and Kanter. It makes more sense for them to move Jefferson as he surely will want more money and unlike Millsap, AL can't give you production off the bench. For the record.......I will part with Knight if it allows me to get rid of TWO of the following contracts: Tay, BoT and/or Stuckey....assuming we get some talent back in return. So in short I would do the following in a New York Minute: NBA Trade Machine - ESPN Let the, "KGREG you're a delusional nut case" comments commence!
We traded Gordon, who's contract was much worse than Villnueva's. The other option is to let CV expire or amnesty him. Then you don't have to include the cheap, but potentially valuable, trade piece.
I don't see any point to that deal. We get old man Jackson and his 8/4 off the bench for $10m and a $15m centre who can't really defend (although he is pretty decent on offense) The deal never happens though, between Isaiah Thomas and Fredette, the Kings don't want another point guard.
He's having fun with you. However, there is one very serious component that would make an exciting match-up if this went through; we would have the latest and most sophisticated camera angles with all stop-speed technical angles on who has the highest dribble in the NBA: Jackson or Knight.
It's not nice to make an old man like me change drooling bibs twice in one day. So do you realize that both Jefferson and Millsap are both only 27 years old?
You're looking at players, both are expiring deals. Plus we get a PF/C who can score and rebound with the best of them to play alongside Drummond and Monroe
Time to refresh this brilliant thread now that we have seen the back of Tayshaun and Daye. Both of which were considered poor fits by a lot of members here. With the addition of Calderon, what is left for Trader Joe to do? What kind of things can we mix up for?
say no more! NBA Trade Machine - ESPN This trade frees up another $7M to spend in free agency, bringing the total amount of money available to spend in at, $32M even without amnestying BoT or cutting Rodney. PG: Calderon SG: Stuckey SF: Singler PF: Millsap C: Monroe
