    Allright, time to play Nostradamus.

    Win loss record?

Slow start fast start? New center, new coaching philosophy, and expanded playbook. Will the Stones charge out of the gate, or need some time to adjust?

Blockbuster trade? Is this the lineup we are looking at for the season, or is something big about to happen?

    Let's hear your take.

I think they will start out pretty well and end with around 56 wins.

I think that Nazr Mohammed will have a 30 point game and 30 games with less than 10.

They are going to be better than what most are expecting. Problem is getting past Miami and then trying to beat a West coast team in 7.

Actually, I expect them to be better than most expect too, however, I am thinking in the high 40`s for wins.

As far as getting by Miami, maybe our starters should adapt "Shaq Rules"....cruise for the regular season to avoid fatigue and turn it on for the playoffs.

I agree, getting past Miami and contending for a ship next year would be nothing short of a miracle!!!!

How is losing Ben going to hurt us against Miami?

For the rest of it I am counting on guys stepping up and for the team to not take nights off like they have been.

I predict 58 wins this year.

I think they start off slow, maybe somewhere around 25-15, then ramp it up as they learn the second half of Flip's vaunted playbook.

I worry about other teams being able to figure out the offense only Pistons, and a slight sag approaching the playoffs.

I still see them going to the ECF... even without Ben.

I predict they split the series with Chicago, 2-2.

I think Flip is a great regular season coach and I see us hitting the familiar 54 win mark.

During the playoffs we will notice more the absence of a certain player known for blocking shots. But despite the loss of Darko I see us matching up with Miami again in the EC Finals but now they are overconfident and bickering among each other. Pat Riley develops an eating disorder and grows a mustache and begins to resemble Stan Van Gundy. Dwyane gets constipated and Shaq has two bad knees and is badly outplayed by Pistons rookie sensation Cheikh Samb.

The Pistons sweep the Heat and it gets so bad some of the Miami crowd start waving their white shirts in surrender.

The Finals start very badly as the Pistons lose the first three games to the Spurs who have dominated the Mavs in the WCF. After the third game Flip Saunders is so upset he speaks to one of the Pistons office workers in what some consider to be a harsh tone. He is immediately fired and replaced by Terry Porter.

The Pistons under their new coach come from behind and win the Championship. Rasheed Wallace is Finals MVP.

We get to the ecf and Shaq actually gets called for about 1/2 of his blatent fouls. He fouls out every game and D. Wade can't do it all himself. D Wade has some mysterious malady. We win handily. We have sandbagged during the season and have lots of energy for the playoffs. We peak during the finals and win the Ship. Meanwhile in Chicago. Scott and Ben have a severe clash of wills and argue constantly during the whole season. The Bulls make the playoffs but are out in the first round. The Chicago fans hate their management. The Pistons fans love theirs.

Damn, HQ. You know I wish I looked as good as Billy Ocean.

Then I would've had ALL the ladies in the eighties. Oh, wait... I DID! (that's in THE eighties, not in THEIR 80's)

Actually, that's our new great hope, his skinnyness, Cheik Samb!

I actually look more like Peaches and Herb.

Well, it's early but here goes (in other words a lot can happen between now & the start of the season, but as of today):

Piston's and Heat battle it out for 2nd place. Cleveland wins the division Lebron is better than ever (with a little help from the NBA front office). Pistons edge the Heat by winning 52 games (they lose 12 games because of Ben's loss and a little more experimenting with the bench).

Playoffs: Pistons knock out Miami. Revenge and home court do the trick. Pistons beat Cleveland for Eastern Conference title. Lebron walks off the without congratulating anyone.

The Mavs beat us in the playoffs 4 games to 1.

We think of relocating the team to Buffalo to join the Bills. Always the bridesmaid.

Disclaimer: I reserve the right to change my opinion daily until the season begins and I make my final prediction. I'm only doing this now because Linwood sends me nasty PM's when I don't respond to threads titled "Linwood's official (fill in the blank)"

Same here. Now our guys know they'll get their @$$=$ handed to them if they don't try. I see Shaq getting in a lot more foul trouble next year too. He can't slack off anymore against the Pistons.

I predict a 53-29 season next year. We won't fall as much as people think. We'll have a better bench, a more experienced coach, a better assistant coach, and we still have 4/5 of the best starting 5 back.

Pistons start the season more or less like last year, winning 19 of their first 25. Then the rest of the league takes them seriously and starts to figure out what they’re running. The next 25 games produce only 14 wins. Then Flip starts to earn his money and begins to make adjustments in the sets. They win 20 of the last 32 for a final record of 53 and 29, peaking at the end of the season. That’s good enough for first in the East but second or third overall.

    Final standings…

    1- Pistons
    2- Cavs
    3- Heat
    4- Bulls
    5- Wizards
    6- Nets
    7- Bucks
    8- Magic

    Assuming…

    - Flips stands up and coaches – no more trying to fit in stuff
    - The team actually starts to push the ball
    - CB, Rip, and Tay rebound the basketball and push it up the floor

    And…

    - Indy doesn’t pull off a couple more trades and become a real team again
    - Hughes manages to produce in Cleveland and they resign Gooden or get value for him
    - Heat and Nets continue to get older

Despite Ben giving up about 80 pounds and 6 inches or so to Shaq we hardly ever needed to double him. With Dyess, or Nazr guarding Shaq I see us doubling more often than we did in the past, resulting in Wade, J-Will,or whoever is the open man slashing to the rim or shooting a wide open J.

I don`t see anyone on our roster guarding Shaq as well as Ben did.
