if hes got that arm and he is hitting the guys in stride with the coaching staff calling the plays? I say ya cant pass on him. Take him and get the best ot or dt with the next pick
Stafford was interviewed by the 49ers. Failed to impress with the psychological test. Kept asking the Doc how much he made. Coach over there thinks he'll pass if he's available. Don't need any more head cases in Lions land.
I'm pretty sure you're kidding but it's easy to see how young minds could be blinded by dollar signs...not many kids walk out of college and immediately get handed a multi-million $ job.
Here is an absurd thought. You may think I am kidding but I'm not so sure. It would be unorthodox and extreme, but I think it may be smart. Call up the teams that are above 500 and try to start a bidding war for your first pick. They can either offer you vets or more pics. If you don't get any takers because nobody wants to pay a rookie that hasn't proved anything a huge contract, guess what? You just found out your pick is worth didly squat. Now that you talked to the successful people and nobody was interested, see if you can sheist one of the dumber teams. If still no takers, here you go, absurd thought coming; when you are on the clock, simply let the clock run out. You lose the pic that nobody wanted but you have saved an enormous amount of money to spend on free agents and also aging pro bowl quality vets who got cut from other good teams on the last cut. Several good teams cut these guys and replace them with some new blood. The Lions could sign a number of these type of players to a one year contract. They may be old tires, but they still have a season of tread left on them. This will improve the Lions immediately plus buy them a little more time. Plus you know if there is a 40% chance the #1 pick will be a bust, guess what that percentage increases to because the Lions are the ones that are choosing. One more thought. If you think the world would laugh at the Lions for doing this, it doesn't matter. They already are. If you think the Lion fans would be ticked, again, it doesn't matter. They will buy tickets anyways. They would buy tickets if we cut everyone and suited up 100 eighty year old women from a nursing home.
It wasn't a big deal, I think... 49ers don't want Stafford because he won't open up to shrink - Shutdown Cor... - NFL - Yahoo! Sports
The 49ers don't want to select the best player in the draft because he wouldn't talk to a shrink about his parents divorce? Perhaps Mike Singletary has taken a few too many hits to the head.
The only way we should even consider drafting Stafford is if his parents get back together. Anyone who has divorced parents is a liability in the NFL.
It's not so much that they just get back together. I would like to see his mom join the PTA and his dad do some volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity. They definitely need to have a family pet, preferably a dog.
I agree with your sarcasm. I was just upset that he quizzed the Doc on his salary. Just tell em no that you do not wish to discuss and leave it at that.
yeah, how many times can to pass on the pick ? We'd need to pass down to the 5 pick to save any money.
