Seven wins are good, but unfortunately for the Lions, Millen keeps his job.. Maybe if they had only won 2 games, he'd be gone....then again maybe the players quit because they were hoping he would be gone??
Some Post-season Lions humor........... Q: What do you call 53 people sitting around a TV watching the Super Bowl? A: The Detroit Lions Q: How do you keep a Detroit Lion out of your yard? A: Put up goal posts. Q: Where do you go in Detroit in case of a tornado? A: Ford Field - they never have a touchdown there Q: What do you call a Detroit Lion with a Super Bowl ring? A: A thief. Q: Why doesn't Ann Arbor have a professional football team? A: Because then Detroit would want one. Q: What's the difference between the Detroit Lions & a dollar bill? A: You can still get four quarters out of a dollar bill. Q: What do the Detroit Lions and possums have in common? A: Both play dead at home and get killed on the road! Q: How many Detroit Lions does it take to win a Super Bowl? A: Nobody knows and we may never find out. Q: What do the Detroit Lions and Billy Graham have in common? A: They both can make 70,000 people stand up and yell 'Jesus Christ!'
Seven wins are good after all the failures, but not when you're starting 6-2. Millen has to take blame at some point. Fords need to sell the team and concentrate on fixing their auto business, which is failing just like their football team.
Classic...this should be posted on the NFL Network, the WDFN webpage, and sent to both William Clay Ford and Matt Millen's personal e-mail addresses:p_welldone:
I am really hoping that WCF looks at this season and realizes that Millen is not the answer. I really see a worse record next season regardless of what we do. Marenilli is not the answer either. Blaming Martz is the most obvious attempt at tagging somebody with blame.......This team needs quality linemen to start. The team simply lacks talent to move up into the elite, playoff caliber group of teams......I will not be happy until I hear from WCF this off season. I really don't think he's going to do anything though.............
last in defense...so fire the offensive coordinator!!...TYPICAL LIONS!! BRING BACK THE MICHIGAN PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!
Exactly, the offense was just lacking a decent offensive line. Beef that up and maybe Martz mixes the plays a little better. But the defense was horrid giving up over 30 points in 7 of their 8 losses fror a league high 444 points. Firing the offensive coordinator on a bad defensive team is just the crazy mindset of the Millen that continues to ruin this franchise. Why would any free agent agree to play for the Lions if they knew Millen and Ford were signing the checks??
Just think, if Millen had drafted Adrian Peterson: the following could have occurred ( I guess I could have set this up as poll, but who really cares, but just some random thoughts): He would have not got the Offensive Rookie of the Year. Would not have gained the 1300 + yards Would have been inflicted with more injuries due to the lite Lion offensve line. On the other hand, maybe the Lions get Kitna's 10 wins with him running the rock.
I have a feeling that Peterson would have played worse with the Lions rather than the Lions playing better with Peterson. They have that effect on players. They're the black hole of the NFL. Players & Coaches come in, but they never come out.
Yeah Barry Sanders would have rushed for 20000+ yards playing for the Dallas Cowboys or St. Louis rams
Put Barry on any other team and he would have had the rushing record right now having played the same # of games. He'd probably also have a ring or two. Only the Lions could have the best running back in the history of the game for 10 years and have a grand total of 1 playoff win to show for it.
Barry would have extended his career by 5 years because of more team success. With 21,000 career yards, he woulda been the all time leader. Only the Lions could have the best running back in the history of the game for 10 years and have a losing record (80-81) when he started. Rodney Peete was 9 games over .500 for his career ONLY because he also started for other teams. That's really sad to think about.........
It didn't take Martz long to find a new home. He has reportedly agreed to a 2 year contract with the 49ers to be their offensive co-ordinator. MLive.com: Everything Michigan
