What a turd of a team. Stafford has shown nothing, other than the fact he is a rookie. The secondary doesn't seem to understand that they need to play the ball, not the man. No pressure upfront and Brees is picking them apart.
Lions viewed by national football fans. My feelinga about the Lions Lion's future this season ballchain:ballchain Lions current offensive dilema.. For WCF, the owner of the Lions Local writers who cover the team. Lions chances of making the Super Bowl in the near future.
Turned the TV off. Same old Lions, fundamental execution is just terrible. Stafford tried to force a throw. Again, why is Culpepper not starting?
Although Stafford threw a nice non-TD pass to Johnson to open the 2nd, I would have still started Culpepper.. By the way, that should have been a TD as he looked like he tight rope the line to me and got in....but at least the officials knew they made a mistake and gave the LIons ample downs to try to get a score... The issue though is not really the QB...the Lions secondary is being riddled by Drew Brees
Hmmm...I turn the game on near the end of the second half and saw the Lions get in the red zone 3 times and they scored 10 pts...meanwhile have seen the Saints score 24 pts in that same time frame...and two of those scores came outside the red zone....
Stafford has looked like......well, a rookie playing his first NFL game. Culpepper gives them a better chance to win now, but I don't think it would have mattered today against the Saints.
Culpepper should be starting. Statford is not ready. I don't think Culpepper starting would really have mattered this week or next week. The secondary is swiss chesse.
On offense, Kevin Smith got 20 yards on 15 carries. Dominic Raiola is still blasting open those big gaping holes for RBs to run through. On defense, we gave up a passer rating over 135 and 6 TD passes. He completed over 75% of his passes. We gave up only 157 yards on the ground -vs- 358 in the air. Let's see...157 per game times 16 games is...0ver 2,500 yards...geeeez. On defense...We "filet-O_suck"....
Yes there was QB problem as they were having trouble moving the ball, but they gave up 45 points which I believe was the most given up by any team today and that I believe is a bigger issue....Our secondary looked like a bunch of amateurs out there as Brees picked them apart at will.
Didn't we have one of the worst defenses in the history of the NFL last year? Why would it have improved at all?
Exactly right. I understand that folks are bummed about the same old stuff we see every year, but did anyone really expect anything different this year? The good news is that the offense scored some points and the Lions will not be facing Drew Brees every week so they won't give up quite so many points. Also, look on the bright side...they make history with every single loss.
Mark Sanchez started for the Jets and had a QB rating of 84.7. Guess who is near the bottom of this list with a QB rating of 27.4???..maybe we drafted the wrong QB?? NFL - Statistics by Position - Yahoo! Sports
