I really think the bonehead move would be to Draft Stafford. To give 40 million in guarantees to an unproven player is stupid. I think that Sanchez is the better prospect anyways. Take Curry with #1 and then trade up to get Sanchez if he's not gone by #10 Curry will sign with much lower guarantees anyways. I am also predicting that Stafford = Leach and Sanchez = Brady. You'll see a huge difference in their careers.......
The way I see it, we are gonna be no better than 4-12 anyway. so go for Stafford and draft D NEXT year..Or take Curry and get Bradford or mcCoy nxt year. Of the three, I like Bradford.
QBs are about 50/50 hit miss with the first pick in the draft. But Oline is 90/10. Mayhew has been very quite about our pick. I like it. The guy will be already signed before camp.
After reading this article, I have to say I like this kid. Again, I don't know how a QB can survive with the Lions without help, but the kid sounds like a winner. Team first. So I have my concerns, but if they take him, and I think they will, I'm OK with it. That being said, I think they remain losers until Ford sells the organization. Sanchez goes through his reads much quicker and methodical. Throws a better ball. SC offense is an NFL type set. Has a 65% completion rate vs 57% for the other guy.
President Tom Lewand gives rare glimpse into Lions' draft preparation - FOX 2 Detroit video - Detroit Lions: News, Blogs, Photos, Audio, Schedule & Stats - MLive.com This is a pretty good look at the Lions war room.
According to the radio reports on 97.1 The Ticket; they have already negotiated a contract with Curry and now have told Stafford that it is as high as they will go; take it or leave it. Today was supposed to be the deadline for his answer but I haven't had a chance to turn on the radio.
Greg Landry on The Huge Show: Timing not right for Lions to draft quarterback Matthew Stafford - Detroit Lions: News, Blogs, Photos, Audio, Schedule & Stats - MLive.com Here Greg Landry says draft a Dee and organize the "O" before drafting a QB.
Landry was my all time favorite for many years. I used to make sure all my jerseys had #11 on them. Good number because later Zeke wore it.
Landry went on to become an Offensive Coordinator at Division 1A. He has an excellent mindset to make this determination. I like his thinking.
Actually...I've stated that we take Curry first...Then move up to get Sanchez if he's available after #9...
Stafford is not even the consensus choice for a QB in a weak draft. I'd say go ahead if this guy had at least that going for him. Curry is the top linebacker choice easily, and has more of a percentage of people behind him for being drafted first, than the others.
