The Lions also include a 5th round pick in the deal. Lions confirm they've dealt Cory Redding to Seattle for Julian Peterson - Detroit Lions: News, Blogs, Photos, Audio, Schedule & Stats - MLive.com FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - Source: Seahawks trade LB Peterson to Lions I like the move as long as it doesn't mean that we're taking Stafford #1. Of course, this makes Curry much less likely as a pick. He did play some inside LB in nickle situations, but not much. Drafting a guy #1 and then switching his position is a HUGE risk. Thoughts?
Peterson did go to Michigan State. He 's been a Pro Bowler. He has a 56 million dollar contract. He's entering his 1oth season. All we gave up was Cory Redding. With this move, the Lions now draft a QB... :yukpuke:
Cory Redd didn't weight 300 lb. Let's get rid of all these light wieghts. Arvil should play LB also. Maybe this means we're looking for a DT !!!
I can't see them taking a DT with the first pick. Unfortunately, I really think the trade for Peterson takes Curry out of the running. There aren't any DT's rated that high. If that was the case, I'd rather have taken Curry and kept Redding. What I'd LOVE to see is for us to take Jason Smith @ 1, move Backus to G and trade our #20 for Jay Cutler. IF we can pull that off, we'll have improved our 4 biggest weaknesses - LB (Peterson>Lewis), T (Smith>Backus), G (Backus>whoever they'd throw in there) & QB (Cutler>Culpepper) just like that. It'd be the most successful month this organization has had in the past 10 years. I had a dream last night that the Lions took a WR @1!!!!
It they can make a deal before the draft that pays the guy his worth [less than #1 money, I say do it] even for an Olineman.
He's way more productive than Redding and his monster contract. I like it. People are saying the Lions are nuts for trading because Hawks might release Peterson due to his contract. BS, Peterson would last 2 seconds on the waiver wire.
