LMAO at how no one has even started a game thread!! anyway....Vikings just took a 17-10 lead in the third.
Lions gifted 17 points. 2 INT's and a fumble. Stafford does not know how to read coverages and misses wide open receivers. Very winnable game today that the Lions handed over in typical Lions fashion. On the plus side, the D looked decent and the running game was clicking.
Also on the plus side, Lions fans have short memories: Wasn't this game sold out? Who attends these games? People with absolutely nothing to do on a Sunday afternoon and have money to burn?
I imagine if one were to sell brown paper bags, and included some markers with each set of bags...One could do a huge business outside of Ford Field. I understand that with the bad economy in the Detroit area, the "Lions Fan" including paper bag and markers, is the #2 costume for sales in the metro area for HALLOWEEN.
On a slightly more positive note, I would like to see how Stafford progress throughout the year. The game is probably too fast for him at this point. Hopefully things will slow down as the year progresses and he get acclimated to the speed of defenses, reading his receiver progressions etc.
This season is a throw away anyway. Does anyone really think that Culpepper would give us any more chance of winning? We'd still be a sub-.500 team. I'd much rather Stafford takes his bumps this year and get them out of the way now. Learn from his mistakes this season so that he can become a better QB in the future. Guys like Manning, Bledsoe and Aikman had horrible rookie seasons, it turned out ok for those guys. Honestly, this team has played slightly better than I was expecting.
Hmm the second rookie QB selected in the draft (Mark Sanchez) wins his second game of the season, this time besting Tom Brady and the Patriots ...can't say that we would have won with Sanchez or Stafford, but seems like somebody is going to be winner now the other will have to wait awhile...
Sanchez - 32 of 53 for 435 yards with 2 TDs and 1 int Passer rating of 90 Stafford - 34 of 67 for 357 yards with 1 TD and 5 int Passer rating of 42 He'd be doing better with less picks.
Gotta look at the wins. Sanchez beat New England today, and Houston last week. The Jets were on a downslide last season losing 4 of their last 5 games. He stepped in this year and brought stability to the team. Stafford is simply looking like another Harrington, at this point.
They were one of the best teams in the AFC till Brett started playing hurt.... we might have taken the wrong qb... but we won't know that for years, hell we could have the best of brady, mannning, and Brees and we still couldn't win in detroit.
Always concerned about the TD to INT ratio. A game plan will determine yards passed and yards per pass, but the ratio is on the QB. I don't even worry about the completion % as long as it's above 50%.
Thanks for clearing that up for me Buck. I refuse to watch or read about the Detroit Lions until there is an ownership change. I get ALL of my Lions news from this thread and it sounded like Nemo was saying that Staff-Infection threw 5 int's yesterday (now that I read it I realize he was tallying BOTH games - duh). ...5 in two games is still a pretty solid achievement though!
I thought the Lions had a chance in the first half...it seems the coach can't make half time adjustments..the Vikings however..can.
