Backus just got thrown to the ground like a little girl (sorry to any little girls who may be watching this). Kitna gets sacked in the end zone for a safety.

Portis fumbles in the red zone, Lions recover.

As absolutely dominated as the Lions have been in this game, they're only down 13 points with almost the entire 4th Q to go.

What an absolutely garbage call on 3rd down. First they waste a time out, then they call a 0 yard pass and hope to get YAC on a 3rd and 3.

Lions punt and the Skins return it to the Lions 2 yard line.

To top it off, Marinelli wastes a challenge and a timeout. How stupid. They had about 5 minutes to review the thing during the injury.

    EXACTLY!!!

I just posted that exact same thing somewhere else (I was starting to feel like the only guy in a chat room, talking to himself)

They had a tv time out and an injury to review the play - which was PLAIN AS DAY. Yet they STILL threw the challenge flag and gave away a timeout.

The Lions should just give back their challenge flag. They don't use it when they should and then they use it when they shouldn't.

Didn't I tell you to go easy on the Lions?
You knew the odds were we would get owned all damn day.
But that's what I hate about head coaches, they think about doing what they do good without respect to opponent forte.
We would've been better off with 4 TEs, 1 WR and direct snaps to a RB.

I have been a true-blue Lions fan throughout these really bad years. often the only one with a Lions jersey in a room of 200. These last few games gave me some hope that it was turning around. That was shattered to smithereens today. It was the worst Lions performance I have ever seen over 55 years of being a Lion fan.

It was so bad I am not even pissed off. Kitna is a bum and we should immediately switch to our youngest, hope for the future quarterback to get him some experience. This season is lost.

The play calling was so bad it seemed like opposite world. We never went long to CJ to loosen up Washington. Heck, we only threw to him twice on short, standing still routes. The defensive personnel weren't that bad. But there is something horribly wrong with the zone that we play every down. The holes in the zone were so big that we made Campbell look like Brady.

I thought we had an improved offensive line. These 330 pounders were pushed around like tackling dummies. The worst was the right tackle, who lost every match-up, his man got around him so easily he looked like part of our backfield.

I have to stop now. I am making myself physically ill. I have to go to the vomitorium quick.:ill:

They still have a winning record. I'd wait until they drop like four or five games in a row, which is entirely possible.

The Lions have never won in Washington. Anyone who actually thought Detroit had a chance today has not been following the Lions too closely over the years...

Yeah even if they had gone into Washigton 4-0 and a decent defense, they still would have lost. They just can't win in a city with so many crooked politicians:). This one was marked L on the schedule when it came out. Time to lick their wounds, work on that O line during the bye week and come out swinging next time.

The only positive that I saw in this game was Kevin Jones having a couple of nice runs.

Agreed Bill. It's nice to have KJ back. The more he plays, the more he'll feel confident on that repaired foot. As you said, that's about it for positives in this game though.

KJ was complaining after the game that he didn't get enough touches.

Even at less than 100%, he is clearly the best they have.

I can see both sides' points of view on this. KJ feels like he can help the team and is ready to contribute. Judging by his production when he's been in there, he's right.

But I can also understand wanting to ease him back though. It was a serious injury which can take some players a full year to recover from - see Teddy Lehman.

It's nice to talk about the possibilities with Kevin Jones. I expect him to be injured again this season. He's injury prone and will not contribute much.

This team still doesn't have much of a running attack. Rarely does the team rushing reach 100 yards. This o-line is terrible again.

the game plan was opposite of what it needed to be. we needed KJ to run like that early to open up the pass. plus our o-line sucks. jeff backus has been overrated dating all the way back to his MI days.

How could they establish a running game if their offensive line sucks?

    :hoops:
