100% sincere. My dream lineup is Zeke as GM and Laimbeer as coach. This is 50% homer and 50% I think those guys are talented resources the NBA is missing out on utilizing.

I actually respect your decision. I don't think it would be the disaster people are making it out to be. I think I simply misjudged your position on the matter and was surprised to see you make that post.

    I'm on board. :)

The question is whether we can get Laimbeer to leave his current post.

I would also want someone else controlling the trades that Zeke does. He drafts outstandingly well, but his trades are garbage.

The beautiful thing about Laimbeer and Thomas is that Laimbs will keep Thomas in check. Thomas will get Laimbs some talent in the drafts, and Laimbs will tell Zeke he's being retarded when he tries to make a bad trade.

You gotta have ying and yang.

Sheed and we need Rick Mahorn. Sheesh, add Billups to the staff. If we're going to be bad, let's be bad with our guys running the show.

Greg Kelser is the only person associated with the organization that is talking any sense, if you are going to take Mahorn you may as well move Kelser out of broadcast chair and move him down the row behind the other coaches. After all the Lakers took Pat Riley from behind the mic with Chick hysterical Hearn in 1980, made him and assistant coach and by 1982 he was the head coach with a championship that year and a few more since.....

I want someone who has got as little relation to the Pistons as possible. Even better if he never played in the NBA. That increases my belief that he was hired for his competency as a GM and not for being popular among the fans.

Why is it that Danny Ainge (Remember when Joe schooled him in that trade? Me either.) seems so lucid and competent? Larry Bird too. It seems like they have better staffs around them and they're allowed to play to their strengths.

With those guys plus Laimbeer & Thomas, just the post game interviews alone would make the hires worth it

He was assistant coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves for a short while. Right now, he is the head coach and GM of the WNBA New York Liberty.

    You mean like Lawrence Frank?

Joe was popular and brought us a title.

Zing. But then you look at Cheeks and you realise both cases are meaningless. We just need someone competent!

Not really. I don't see how being fired as a Piston coach qualifies as being not Pistons-related and having GM competence.

One guy who went on a lucky streak before reality catched up with him isn't convincing me that popularity trumps competence.

I don't think it is fair to call building a team that won a title and went to the ECF 6 or so years running a 'lucky streak'.

Sure, we don't like Joe now, but lets not pretend he was always incompetent.
