duke barely scraped by in their opening game, there's no way they'll get close to winning it. i'm actually regretting having them out in only the 3rd round.
One blog post on a Kentucky sports blog I read provided this rundown of why yesterday was the lamest day of first round NCAA hoops ever, which makes sense when you consider all of these things together: I left off his last bullet point of Kentucky losing, since I know not everyone loves my Wildcats (*cough* HQ *cough*). But I left the Duke one in, since I'm sure we all hate them.
I didn't really take any chances either. About the riskiest I got was taking the home state Kentucky teams in the first round. that didn't really pay off for me. I've only watched a handful of college games this year. I watched a UNC game where the Tar Heels looked like the Spurs playing against Michigan. After seeing that game, I picked UNC to win it all. The rest? I tried to pick teams with recent winning streaks, but I didn't find a single page with the specific information I was looking for so I got lazy and just picked teams.
My best wins yesterday: KANSAS ST, MARQUETTE My worst losses: MSU, PURDUE, WEST VIRGINIA If I could change my mind today: ARKANSAS, OREGON, DRAKE
2:28pm est...CURRy is incredible..Best son of a Daddy I ever seen! They are TWINS! Davidson 77-74..what a 3333!!!!
12:10 PM PDT,, well you were right The whole OT was a 3 pt barrage by Drake and then they get beaten by a 3 ball at the buzzer....
Wow, that was a CLUTCH 3 to win it at the buzzer for Western Ky. That guy was WELL beyond the 3 pt line, but he flat-out nailed it. Now that's some March Madness for you!!
Yeah I reckon! My deal was, if I wasn't sure about a matchup (complete coin-flip), then I would try to make sure I had the winner out next round to cover my bases. Right Tater?? (Gonzaga)
I do feel bad for Drake, though. Having been on the business end of the shot that probably gets shown more than any other in NCAA tourney history (Laettner's buzzer-beater in '92), I know how much it sucks to suffer through a highlight like that. But my Wildcats have a nice little record of 7 national titles (including 2 since that shot) to console me whenever it comes up. But what does a Drake fan have? Not much...and even so, they'll probably have to see that shot being replayed over and over for the rest of eternity, in every NCAA tourney advertisement.
In between the real games here is a another March tournament you can pick from. March Babeness - SPORTS RADIO 1130 WDFN THE FAN | DETROIT
LOL. I remember a few years ago when Gonzaga first did the Cinderella thing and I had guessed right on them. Ever since then, no matter what I guess, they do the opposite. I know I had them going a ways this year, but I can't remember how far. Final 8, I think. :nerd2:
Wow, how about San Diego! That was quite a gutsy win. I think both of their best players were on the bench when they needed a bucket at the end of OT; one had fouled out and the other was injured. But they nailed a cold-blooded J to win it. The very last play was kind of weird. UConn was down 1 with 1.2 sec left and had to throw it all the way down the court after a timeout, so SD put a big guy in to guard the inbounder. The UConn inbounder ran from one side of the baseline to the other, as you can of course do after a made bucket...but the SD big man STAYS IN THE SAME SPOT, waving his arms like an idiot, even though the inbounder has run 20 feet away from him!! WTF was that all about? SD deflected the inbounds pass near midcourt to clinch the win, but man, if UConn had pulled off a miracle buzzer-beater, that idiot big man who didn't chase after the inbounder would have been the biggest escape goat ever!
