Is there anyone else that feels like ESPN has WAY too much "Insider" stuff on their website these days? It seems like every front page image is linking to an Insider article, especially when it comes to NBA offseason info. I'm not paying money to read Hollinger et al wax poetic about "who came out of the free agent frenzy on top - and who flopped", and all that other stuff. It leads to an interesting question: Does splashing more Insider content motivate you more to get Insider access so you can read the articles, or does it prompt you to stop going to the site altogether?
I stopped reading ESPN regularly a couple years ago. The combination of the paywall, hype content and rich media advertising was a turnoff. I don't know who their market is, but it isn't me. I am more the model producer than the model consumer.
ditto. In my case you can add to this list nba.com too. ok, nbacom do not have "inside" everywhere but hype and ads are 10 times worse than in ESPN.
I agree with you CJ. It's always the articles I "want" to read also, since I am a sucker for top 10:s, analysises and the writers opinions. Which pages do you guys read instead? I have checked out thebleacherreport but I have yet to see a list where Kobe isn't ranked higher than Jordan so I guess that's more of a LA site.
I hate the ESPN site, and yes, too much pay content nowadays. Other than the trade machine, everything seems to be paid content. Pfft. I follow sports.yahoo.com/nba. Seems like less hype and the columnists aren't too bad.
I follow sports.yahoo.com/nba. Seems like less hype and the columnists aren't too bad. it is my 2nd source. 1st is, of course, Pf.com
Shaq chasing another ring by going to a contender?? I guess he didn't like Joe's offer to help Ben with Monroes's training. If the Celtic deals is consummated, will he refer to himself as the Big Leprechan, the Green Monster, O'Neal x 2, The Jolly Green Giant?? Either way he could sit in street clothes until playoff time.... NBA Free Agents: Shaquille O'Neal decides to join Boston Celtics, sources say - ESPN Boston
Does this also means that Doc couldn't convince Sheed to come out of retirement?? Sheed at 35 is satisfied with one ring and wants to spend time with family.. Shaq is 38 and is not satisfied that Kobe has more rings, and his family (ex wife) appears in reality shows....and he appears on summer Shaq vs the world TV shows
Celtics is fast becoming a Del Webb community for NBA players. I wonder if they play bingo on the flights and go to IHOP for the early-bird specials.
Sources: Four-team, five-player trade agreed to, sending Trevor Ariza to New Orleans Hornets - ESPN I guess the teams checked first on NBA Trade Machine: NBA Trade Machine - ESPN I've never seen a 4-team trade on there that didn't affect anyone's winning percentage. Impressive.
Why all the panic from these teams? Pacers must be gearing up for that March 30th game against the Pistons.
I'm sad (and angry) that it took so little to nab a young PG like Collison... we should have been all over that.
pacers will get miami trio on the loan for this special game. and next year allstar game will be NBA allstars vs Pistons.
We could have sent out old combo swing man Tay for Collison but then we would still be stuck with six guards until we moved Rip or T-Mac
