I have learned to not assume a trade is going to happen after I was flat out convinced that Rip was gone once we signed Gordon last year. Fool me once...
This is coming from Mcgradys offiical website. Tracy McGrady Aldridge source: Pistons will work to “un-jam the log-jam” on the wing – PistonPowered
At some point if they move Tay and Rip who would you have to work with the kids ? Who better than an ex all star / scoring champ at vet min. it was a no brainer . He's not coming here to start and he knows it . If he is just insurance against a future trade thats fine .
If he leaves brittle lobe leg wound in Houston and brings his Eagle heart, I'd chip in for a new Gao ji the chair.
What if Joe D thinks T-Mac is the missing piece of getting DET to crack the top 4 or so of the East? I think it is pretty clear that he likes this team a lot more than most. A trade might be forthcoming, but Greg Monroe might go on to be a 4 time WNBA MVP also. I do not like this move because it further muddles the picture. When I look at the roster I do not see the need for a veteran presence. If the Pistons trade Rip and/or Tay I believe it will be for cap space. Losing will benefit them at that point. They need to move away from the middle.
Sometimes I think develop players for what? Just so some other team can swoop in and offer them something way more than they are really worth. Only guys I would really like to see time made for are Monroe and JJ. Daye - I just don't know. He did not impress me last year so perhaps I am a bit biased by not wanting to tank the season just so he can get better. What else do we have besides a bunch of 2nd round pick add on guys from the summer league. ITS ONLY A MIN 1 YEAR CONTRACT
Are you forgetting that Daye is up to 193 lbs now? That should be more than enough to allow him to match up.
Heck yeah. Joe's phone will be ringing off the hook with teams looking to take that $1.3 million expiring contract off our hands. Of course, Joe will have to put down the popcorn and coke to pickup the phone, so it will remain to be seen if a deal gets done.
